Sleeping Dogs is Getting a Movie with Donnie Yen as the Lead

So in for this.

Back in 2012, Square Enix and United Front released Sleeping Dogs, a spiritual sequel of sorts to the True Crime franchise. While players and critics enjoyed the game, a new entry was never greenlit, despite the developers having a good idea of what could’ve been. Now, the game is getting a new lease on life, courtesy of a live action film.

Produced by Neal Moritz, who some may remember best as one of the men behind the Fast and Furious franchise, his company Original Film will join forces with DJ2 Entertainment for a film due to be released in the future. Not only that, the Sleeping Dogs film will be headlined by Donnie Yen, martial artist and actor best known for the Ip Man trilogy and his turn as Chirrut Imwe in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

As for when the Sleeping Dogs film will release, that’s yet to be announced, along with a writer, director, and cast. Once those details have been nailed down, we’ll let you know. Given Donnie Yen’s track record and history with action heavy movies, it’s a safe bet that this’ll have plenty of fight scenes for him to wreck shop in.
