The opening crawl is a classic part of the Star Wars franchise. Save for the animated Clone Wars film, all of them have featured it to set viewers up for the world, and you would think that the upcoming anthology film Rogue One would follow suit in that regard, right? Well…maybe not. In this video taken during the Star Wars Celebration event in London, it indicates that the film may deviate from this. And if not, hey, it’s a nice teaser.
The film takes place before the events of the original Star Wars film, and stars Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso. She’s contracted by the Rebel Alliance to steal the plans to the Death Star, which is a job easier said than done. Joining her in her adventure is a motley crew of characters, including Forest Whitaker as Saw Guerra, who fans may remember from the animated Clone Wars series.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story comes to theaters on December 16.
