At Least One Previously Released Square Enix Collective Game Is Coming to Switch

In an interview with Twitch user FragmentsofSilicon, Phil Elliot, the project lead of the Square Enix Collective program, confirmed that at least one 2017 Square Enix Collective game will be receiving a release on the Nintendo Switch in 2018.

At the moment we are looking at the potential for taking some – one or two – of the games we released previously and actually bringing them to Switch. It’s really just a case of talking to the developers and finding out what they want to do. Not everybody wants to put time in on that. There are a lot of cases when they’ve moved on to next projects and so on. So I think for the games we’re releasing next, there are no new plans for Switch games. But what I can say is that I’d expect certainly one of the games released in 2017 to appear on Switch before the end of this year for sure, and possibly more.

Square Enix Collective is a subsidiary of Square Enix that focuses on supporting indie developers. In the past, they have supported projects through Kickstarter, like with the recently released Fear Effect Sedna. Some of their 2017 releases that haven’t yet appeared on the Switch include Children of Zodiarcs, Oh My Godhead, and Tokyo Dark.

Some Square Enix Collective titles have already seen a Switch release, such as Fear Effect Sedna, Black the Fall, and Pankapu. Phil Elliot doesn’t state which previously released game will be joining the Switch lineup this year, but we can be sure that Square Enix Collective will be showing the Switch at least a little support in 2018.
