Announced today, Pokemon Generations will be series of animated shorts aired on YouTube. The 18 planned episodes will release weekly starting September 16 and concluding December 23, 2016. The shorts will run for roughly 3 to 5 minutes each, but from the looks of the trailer, won’t be short on action.

SWAT teams, ominous legendaries, and what seems to be a face-off between Red and Blue all make an appearance in the 60 second teaser. “Every generation has a story to tell,” it says, boasting untold stories, the greatest battles, and a look at the Pokemon world through new eyes. From the looks of things, this may be Pokemon’s opportunity to take a darker stance on the plotlines of its famous titles.

“The new animated series Pokémon Generations revisits each generation of the Pokémon video game series to shed new light on some timeless moments,” Nintendo’s description reads. “From the earliest days in the Kanto region to the splendor of the Kalos region, go behind the scenes and witness Pokémon history with new eyes!”

On other Pokemon fronts, Sun and Moon is preparing to release this November, taking the series to the Alola region with a Snap-like mechanic, new Alolan forms of classic Pokemon, and possibly a disturbingly dark plot. Nintendo also revealed a new Sun and Moon-themed 3DS XL today, featuring both of the generation’s legendaries.
