First Avatar 2: The Way of Water Trailer Is Equally Epic as It Is Serene

Earlier today, 20th Century Studios debuted a brand new trailer for its upcoming sci-fi spectacular, Avatar 2: The Way of Water. As you can see, the stage is set for another action-adventure set on the forest planet of Pandora. Beautiful sweeping vistas, soothing and meditative soundscapes, and glimpses of the family at the heart of this intriguing tale are the order of the day in this new teaser footage.

Helmed by industry legend and the original director James Cameron, with Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Stephen Lang, and Sigourney Weaver reprising their roles from the series’ debut, Avatar 2 is all set to take the box office by storm.

As you’re probably already aware, the first Avatar movie absolutely crushed it at the box office. In fact, it’s officially the highest-grossing film of all-time with a remarkable 2.847 billion box office haul. No small feat, indeed!

For more information, here’s a brief official rundown courtesy of 20th Century Studios:

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure. Directed by James Cameron and produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, the film stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement and Kate Winslet.

Avatar 2: The Way of Water opens exclusively in theaters on Dec. 16, 2022.
