A Fruit Ninja Movie Is in the Works

Following the recent release of one film based on a popular mobile game, The Angry Birds Movie, news of a upcoming Fruit Ninja movie has been revealed.

The film will be a live-action family comedy and Tripp Vinson, producer of San Andreas, will produce the movie under his Vinson Films production banner, according to the Hollywood Reporter. J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani, who have worked on How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack, are in line to write the adaptation.

Since Fruit Ninja is the second-biggest selling iOS title of all time, with more than one billion downloads, it comes as no surprise that a movie has been considered. It will follow the rumoured Tetris trilogy and The Angry Birds Movie in being a movie based on an extremely simple game.

There is no director attached as of yet but news cannot be far away. Maybe those involved will wait to see how well The Angry Birds Movie does first. What will be next? A Cut the Rope movie?
