Xbox Series X: How to Appear Offline

In this guide, we’ll talk you through how to appear offline on Xbox Series X, so you can play your games uninterrupted. We also go over what the ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode does and how to use this, as well as how to appear online again, too.

Fortunately, if you’ve got or have used an Xbox One previously, the process for appearing offline is almost the exact same.

How to Appear Offline on Xbox Series X

To appear offline, press the Xbox button on your controller, and then use LB or RB to shift over to the ‘Profile’ tab.

From here, select your profile and press A. You’ll now have a number of account options here that you can choose from. What you want to do is select the last option which will likely be set as ‘Online’ or ‘Appear Online’. Press A on this and then select the ‘Appear Offline’ option.

Using Appear Offline will mean that your friends do not see your Xbox account as online. This means you can game away with some peace and quiet. Lovely!

Do Not Disturb Mode

If you’d like to remain online, but stop your friends from being hilarious and bombarding you with party or game invites while you’re trying to enjoy your favorite show on Netflix, then you can select the ‘Do Not Disturb’ option from the same drop-down as Appear Offline.

In ‘Do Not Disturb’ you’ll show as being online to friends, but with those words next to your name. Now if they try and invite you or message you, you won’t get the notifications, so you can live on in ignorant bliss.

How to Appear Online Again

If you’re done lurking in the shadows in Appear Offline and want to appear online again, simply select the option from your profile screen. The very same drop-down menu where you selected ‘Appear Offline,’ you can select ‘Appear Online.’ Confirm your select and your friends will see you online again. Easy peasy!
