How to Type in Valorant Chat

There are three different types of “chat” in Valorant that can be used to type messages to other players: All, Team, and Whisper (direct message).

To type in chat, all you need to do is press Enter on your keyboard, then type your message and hit Enter again to send it. However, this will, by default, be set to your Team Chat, which will only convey messages to those on your team.

To change to “All” so that everyone can see your message, simply hold Shift as you press Enter.

From there, you can actually cycle between the two other modes by pressing Tab.

So, if you’re typing a message in All but then want to quickly type a DM to someone on your friends list, just hit Tab until you see the text box change to a pink color and read “To.” You can then enter the name and press Tab again to begin the Whisper.

Let’s quickly recap:

Time needed: 1 minute

  1. Press Enter to open Team Chat, or Press Shift + Enter to All Chat while playing.

  2. Use the Tab key to cycle between Team and Whisper.
