Valheim is all about finding items that help you survive its dangerous world. However, you’ll eventually have things that you don’t really have the use for, but it’s not clear how you get rid of them. If you’re trying to get some of your investment back after crafting things, here’s everything you need to know about how to deconstruct items in Valheim.
A lot of modern RPGs allow you to deconstruct items so that you’re not wasting time and resources on items you’ll get nothing out of once they’re no longer useful. Getting just a little of what you put into an item back makes changing your favorites less risky.
How to Deconstruct Items in Valheim
When it comes to things you’ve build, such as workbenches and shelter, you can break them down with your hammer. Just equip your hammer and aim it at the thing you want to deconstruct, then press the middle mouse button to start the process. You should get 100% of the materials you put in back out. They’ll be lying on the ground and you’ll be able to pick them up quickly.
However, that same process does not work for things like armor and weapons. There is no way to deconstruct weapons and armor in Valheim – you won’t be able to go into your inventory and press a button that gives you back some of the materials you put into making it.
Thankfully, it’s quite easy to store items in Valheim, with chests being cheap and easy to craft. Also, you can always just drop weapons and armor you don’t want and pretend it’s not there. Go somewhere you’re never likely to go, such as in the sea, get rid of the item you don’t want and cannot deconstruct, and carry on with your adventure.
That’s everything you need to know about how to deconstruct items in Valheim. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to check out our wiki guide or search for Twinfinite.
