What the Best Class Is in TERA

Recommended Videos

TERA is finally out on consoles and floods of new players are trying out the action heavy MMORPG for the first time. However, before you can really dig in, you first need to select a class. This is an important choice as this style of play will be sticking with you for the game. You can be a tank, healer, or DPS class, or choose something that blends different aspects of each.

Here’s the thing, there is no “best class” in TERA, at least not exactly. TERA is a MMORPG, which means you’ll be in tough battles against monsters known as BAMs that will require cooperation from all different classes to succeed. You can’t just stack an in-vogue class and win. The meta is also going to shift as time goes on, we can let you know what’s currently popular, but updates and new fights can/will shift what is popular. Still, because you’re here, we can try and provide you with some guidance.

If you’re looking for a good solo class that can get you up to max level quickly and safely, the Lancer is a decent choice. It has arguably the best survivability with its shield block attack which, after successfully blocking, allows you to follow up with a powerful combo that does decent damage. Plus it’s good training to being a tank, which is a tough job in any MMORPG but someone has to do it, and the Lancer is among the best. There are other options that can clear packs of enemies quicker, like the Gunner or Sorcerer, but just keep in mind you need to be more on your toes as your room for error will be smaller.

Outside of solo play, if you’re looking for a safe job that is going to be welcome in any group, you can go with either one of the healing classes, Priest and Mystic, as both are going to be needed for difficult fights. Can’t be having people die and expect to win.
