Splitgate: How to Get Portal Kills

Splitgate is the latest multiplayer shooter to become a hit with players around the world, and it’s only currently in beta! Blending the mind-bending portals of… Portal, with the floaty futuristic shooting of the Halo franchise, Splitgate is an absolute blast both when playing solo and with friends. But how do you get Portal Kills in Splitgate? Here’s what you need to know.

A Portal Kill is exactly what it sounds like. You’ll need to eliminate an opponent with the use of a portal.

Getting Portal Kills in Splitgate

To get a Portal Kill, you need to kill an enemy by having them die by traveling through your portals. This will need to involve some careful placing of said portals, and a lot of patience as this requires your opponent to actively kill themselves, rather than you dealing any damage with weapons.

The best map to do this on is Olympus, as it’s possible to fall to your death here. Around the sides of the map, you’ll find circular platforms with surfaces you can place portals on. Go ahead and put one on here.

Now go and find an enemy and try and get them onto one of the surfaces around the map that you can place a portal on. As they’re running towards you, place a portal on the floor just in front of them and they’ll fall through it, out of your other one, and to their death.

This isn’t the only way to get portal kills in Splitgate, but we’d highly recommend using the circular platforms around the edge of the Olympus map and some careful placement of portals as this so far seems to be the easiest option. Highwind is another map where players can fall to their deaths, so it’s possible to get Portal Kills in Splitgate on this map, too.

Kill Through Portals Aren’t Portal Kills

It’s worth pointing out that while you can get Kill Through Portal awards on Splitgate, this isn’t the same as getting a Portal Kill.

A Kill Through Portal is exactly what it sounds like, you kill an enemy by firing one of your weapons through your portal so it exits out the other and hits the enemy.

That’s everything you need to know on how to get portal kills in Splitgate. For more on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite, or see more of our coverage on the game below.
