Should You Splatter Walls in Splatoon 2?
To put things simply, no, you should absolutely not waste your time splattering walls in Splatoon 2. Especially if you’re playing Turf Wars. Turf Wars counts points by calculating how much area you’ve covered with your ink color, and it only applies to ground area. This means that any ink you splat onto the walls will not help to increase your point total, nor will it fill up your special gauge.
However, this does not mean that splattering walls can’t be a good strategy for other game modes. For instance, Rainmaker is a mode where splattering walls could be a viable strategy for you and your team. The Moray Towers map in Rainmaker offers a lot of verticality, and the Rainmaker carrier can often cover a lot of ground if they splatter the walls, turn into a squid, and climb up that way. The wall strategy can also be useful in helping you get the jump on your opponents, or serving as a hiding place when you need to recover health.
