Act 3

spider-man, story, summary, what, happens, ps4

At the beginning of Act 3, Manhattan is beginning to come down with some sort of illness thanks to Devil’s Breath being released upon them. With Spider-Man all rested and recovered, he decides it’s time to immediately get to work. First, Doc Ock had commanded Rhino and Scorpion to go and cause some problems over at a shipping yard, while Vulture and Electro are busy patrolling a factory.

As the player, you’re actually free to decide which duo you want to go and take care of first. Going after Rhino and Scorpion will cause Spider-Man to land in on the two while they’re arguing with each other about how things should be done. After kicking their asses, you’ll also get a quick insight into Miles’ run-in with the duo, as he was raiding a Sable outpost in the hope he could get medical supplies to keep the homeless shelter going (which has now been turned into a refuge center for just about anyone who’s sick). Aunt May, sadly, seems to be coughing and spluttering, suffering with an illness at this point, too.

With both of the duos taken care of, Spider-Man sets his sights for Mister Negative who’s heading right for Osborn at his penthouse apartment. But MJ is already there, intent on looking for clues to explain a little bit more about Devil’s Breath and exactly what it is. Problem is, Sable are there, too.

After some scouring around, it turns out that Devil’s Breath was initially a super cure to most diseases that went awry. Upon finding a hidden room in the penthouse, MJ discovers that  Martin Li was a test subject for Devil’s Breath when he was a child in the hope that it could cure his negative energy, but sadly, his parents died in an accident during the experiment, and ever since Martin Li has sought revenge against Osborn. MJ spots Otto is actually there, too, working on Devil’s Breath with Norman.

And what’s more, a scientist at Oscorp has Devil’s Breath on him at all times in order to keep it safe and out of the hands of the wrong people. We also find out in the penthouse here that Norman’s son, Harry Osmond, one of Peter Parker’s best friends, isn’t actually on a trip around Europe, but that was simply a cover-up for him to be the next trial subject for Devil’s Breath, in the hope it could cure him of an illness that could kill him.

MJ turns around suddenly after hearing Silver Sable lurking outside, and smashes a container with a black and red Spider inside it. Eventually Silver Sable walks into the hidden room that MJ discovered all of the Devil’s Breath information about. She scans the room, as the aforementioned spider rests on MJ’s neck as she tries not to scream. After Silver leaves the room, MJ brushes it off and makes her escape, leaping off the building in the hope that Spidey catches her, and he does.

With all of this knowledge behind them, MJ and Peter talk about how Harry is actually sick and not in Europe, and discuss the revelation that Otto had worked on Devil’s Breath with Norman before leaving to work on his own research. It’s just a shame that Otto’s gone insane now. Spider-Man blames his self-centered nature, and MJ reassures him that he’s not alone. He has MJ and Miles to help him, and she says her and Miles will take care of FEAST and those who are suffering from Devil’s Breath.

And so off Spider-Man goes to find Normal, but unfortunately finds Mister Negative has beaten him to it. It’s time for round two with Mister Negative for Spidey, and this time he beats him once and for all, defeating the enormous negative energy monster that bursts out of Mister Negative.

With Mister Negative down, Spidey heads over to save Osborn and get him to safety. But right on cue, Doc Ock bursts through the ceiling. He grabs Spidey, crushing him and damaging his suit in the process. Before he bails out, he steals the Devil’s Breath cure (which Norman has managed to manufacture and reveals) and Norman, leaving Spidey on his own.

At this point, Devil’s Breath has begun ravaging the city, and Aunt May’s state continues to decline. Peter knows he doesn’t have much time yet, and needs to fix his suit up before he can take on Doc Oc again.

Sadly, after the last time, Spider-Man’s aware that he needs to make some changes to his Spider suit, and with the help of the research and materials at Octavius labs, creates a powerful new black and yellow suit (CUE THE WIZ KHALIFA SONG!).

Just as soon as he’s done with it, however, Doc Ock bursts in. It turns out that Otto knew this whole time that it was Peter who is Spider-Man and he wasn’t just helping him out. After trying to argue his reasoning for wanting to take down Norman, the two end up locking horns in one final, epic fight.

We’ve then wrapped up the ending of the game over here, as there are yet more Spider-Man PS4 spoilers for you to navigate, so head on over there for the final wrap-up.
