Is Shadow of the Colossus Remake Coming to Xbox One?
The Shadow of the Colossus remake is easily the best way to experience the cult classic adventure. With improved controls, overhauled textures and general visuals, and a sweeping cinematic camera to round it all off, it’s just what the 2005 classic needed to bring it up to speed with today’s best-looking releases. Of course, with this being a remake of a beloved classic, some Xbox One owners may be wondering if they’ll get a chance to check out Shadow of the Colossus on Microsoft’s system.
Unfortunately, Shadow of the Colossus remake will remain exclusive to the PlayStation 4. The title was developed by Sony’s Japan Studio, a first-party studio who develops software exclusively for the PlayStation family of consoles. Considering the PS4 and Xbox One are in fierce competition in terms of sales at the moment, it’s unlikely Sony would hand over one of its exclusives to Microsoft.
This is further reinforced by the official page for the game over on the PlayStation website. Scroll down the page a bit, and you’ll come across a trailer for the game with the ‘PlayStation Exclusive’ icon emblazoned in the top right-hand corner.
Chances are, Shadow of the Colossus isn’t going to come to the Xbox One any time soon, if ever. If you don’t have a PS4 and want to give the remake a try, your best bet at playing it is if it hits the PlayStation Now streaming service available on PC. For now, though, we’ll just have to wait and see.
