How to Mute Players in Red Dead Online

Red Dead Online takes the game’s gorgeous open-world and puts a multiplayer spin on it. Of course, if you don’t want your serene western experience ruined by loud-mouthed players, you’ll need to know how to mute players in Red Dead Online.

If you’ve played virtually any online game you’ll know that, sometimes, other players can be a touch annoying or aggressive. Luckily, Red Dead Online gives you multiple options for filtering your voice chat.

Press left on the D-pad to open your player menu, then select the Online Options menu. You’ll see a selection for Voice Chat, and you can toggle between four different settings. Friends Only, Crew Only, Posse Only, Everyone.

If you want to filter out random players but still want to hear all of your allies, your best bet is Posse Only, letting you hear every player that’s a part of your posse.

Additionally, you can press left on the d-pad and go to Players. From there, you can choose to mute everyone around you by holding Triangle on PS4 or Y on Xbox One.

At the moment, there doesn’t seem to be a way to mute specific players, but that could change in the future.

Of course, you can switch these options around at any time, so just change things as you see fit. If you’d like you can approach Red Dead Online entirely on your own, partnering with random players and playing through the story, rather than engaging in all of the Posse options.

Red Dead Online lets you create your very own character, set up your own camp, and take on a number of multiplayer modes and missions. It won’t be long before you start running into other players, so just keep these muting options in mind, in case you need them.

That covers everything you need to know about how to mute players in Red Dead Online.
