Another year another season of Diamond Dynasty and MLB The Show 21. There’s a good chance that if you’ve made it to this page you’re struggling to get the stubs you need to buy your favorite cards. Here are our tips for how to get stubs fast and easy in MLB The Show 21.
We’ve been doing this for a few years now and while there are few adjustments we have to make here and there (RIP to the equipment exchange scheme of 2018), there are some fundamentals that always remain true and will apply no matter what.
Step 1: Get a Stub Bank Account Going By Grinding Easy Moments & Programs
How to Gets Stubs – MLB The Show 21
For anyone just starting out, the first thing we recommend is to do all the easy moments and programs that will give you some Stubs for not a whole lot of effort.
Moments were added a few years ago and they return pretty much exactly intact in MLB The Show 21 with a few tweaks here and there.
These challenges are a great way for you to start grinding out some Stubs to give you a decent bank roll large enough to make effective use of the rest of the tips we have in this guide.
Jump into Moments and start knocking out anything that you feel you can succeed in. There are a lot of low-level difficulty Moments to choose from, anyone should be able to handle those. So just grab a beer or a soda and some chips and just churn through those.
Don’t go crazy trying to complete moments that you’re having a hard time with. There will be a time and place for you to really go for those, but if your goal is to just get stubs fast and easy you can just skim past anything that you can’t easily beat.
Also, make sure to visit the Program screen and start ranking up through the First Inning program (or whatever MLB The Show 21 is up to when you start playing). You’ll get more Stubs and Packs from those as well as you progress.
If you have a lot of packs from a pre-order bonus, or you’ve stocked up on them from running through the Programs, start looking through your collection to see what might be worth selling on the Community Market (more on that later) and which ones might be worth “collecting.”
Rather than selling trash players for extremely little amounts at a slow pace, you can make dual progress on your live series collections (eventually leading to a Diamond card), while also getting 200 Stubs for every ten cards you turn in.
You’ll need a nest egg of at least a few thousand Stubs at least to effectively perform the other tips we suggest.
Step 2: Don’t Gamble on Packs

The allure of packs is extremely hard to resist, I get it 100%. Although I’m about to go on a rant about why buying packs is bad… I still buy packs sometimes.
The reason why they are so tempting is that they tease the “unknown,” the big score like Mike Trout that could set you for a whole season Stubs wise if you sell it.
Here’s the thing, the amount that the average person will gamble on Stubs and never get anything of value they could just straight up buy Mike Trout from the Community Market.
Don’t buy packs unless you have nothing else you want to do with your Stubs.
Yes, will someone hit on Mike Trout and call me an idiot, yes, but every one person that gets that big pull of an expensive Diamond, there are poor saps wasting their stubs on a bundle of useless Bronze cards.
If you never buy a pack, and just save all your Stubs, you’ll eventually just be able to straight up buy most of the Diamond cards you could ever want or need. I learned that the hard way last season.
If you have Stubs burning a hole in your pocket, and you’re good at MLB The Show 21, take your chances in Battle Royal, or buying limited time packs with defined rewards. At least with those things, you have an idea of what your reward will be.
Step 3: Study the Community Market Board

What you’re going to use those Stubs you grinded for is to start working the Community Market.
Break out a notebook and literally start taking notes on the prices of some of the most popular players (Bronze-Diamond doesn’t matter). Pay attention and recognize when players are being valued too highly or lowly and take advantage.
Popular and big-name players tend to go for higher on the community market regardless of whether or not they are actually any good. You can sell cards you get from packs that have name brand for Stubs and then get a lesser-known card that’s just as good for much cheaper and make some Stubs out of the deal.
Be very patient. Never Buy Now and always use Buy Orders instead unless you like wasting Stubs. You’ll get your card eventually if you’re being reasonable and patient. Take advantage of the people that aren’t patient by using Sell Orders to sell your card at a price that you know you’ll profit from. Same deal, as long as you’re not being outrageous, it will sell.
This is how crafty and smart MLB The Show 21 Diamond Dynasty vets build their team without having to spend a dime of real-life cash.
Step 4: Predict Which Players Are Going to Have Breakout Years

If you’re a big fan of the MLB, and not just MLB The Show 21, this is where you can use your advance knowledge of the game to get a HUGE leg up.
If you feel confident in a player in the Bronze/Silver/Gold range having a big-time breakout year and becoming one of the top players in their position, you can and should buy as many of their cards as you can afford and sit on them.
When players rank up to the next tier of rarity they get a huge bump in value. As an example (don’t take this as advice, I’m just spitballing), if Jeff McNeil on the Mets has a monster year at the plate bashing home runs to start the season in addition to his high average, you could see him skyrocket in value.
It’s like investing in penny stocks, you want to find that little known company and dump a ton of money into it and then sell it when it hits its peak value. If you replicate this with a lower-tier MLB player poised to have a big year, you’ll make a killing down the road.
That’s our tips for how to get Stubs fast in MLB The Show 21. Have your own tricks and suggestions? Feel free to share them down below in the comments.
