Is State of Decay 2 Coming to Nintendo Switch?
The upcoming zombie survival horror game State of Decay 2 is only a few days away, and it promises a tense atmosphere and strategic gameplay for both the single player, and groups of up to four cooperatively. It is scheduled to be releasing on Xbox One and Microsoft Windows, leaving fans of the other consoles on the outside looking in. With the recent hype train of the Switch returning Nintendo to prominence, is there any chance we’ll ever see a port landing on the plucky hybrid console?
Unfortunately, not only is this not in the cards for now, it is unlikely to ever occur. Beyond the logistical issues surrounding the Switch’s dubious online capabilities (something that will hopefully improve with September’s implementation of a paid online service), the development studio behind the State of Decay series, Undead Labs, is in the middle of a multi-year, multi-title agreement with Microsoft Studios.
In an Undead Labs 2011 Q&A, it was confirmed that Microsoft Studios was one of the only publishers that shared the vision for what would later become State of Decay, and the partnership has remained strong since that time.
As enticing as the idea of Nintendo paraphernalia hiding in cupboards at the Bronco Gas Station may be, Switch owners will have to look elsewhere for their zombie fix.
