How to Use the Interlink Soul Tree in Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Interlinking is the brand-new battle system feature in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and it packs quite a punch with the help of the Soul Tree.

The Interlinking mechanic in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is arguably the best part of a Xenoblade battle system since Shulk’s vision in the original title. Interlinking lets two of your party members to combine and take on their super powerful Ouroboros Form. If that doesn’t get you ready to beat up some Consuls, then you’ll be able to make the Ouroboros Forms even stronger once you learn how to use the Interlink Soul Tree in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

First, it’s time to learn how to navigate the menus in this game since the Soul Tree is pretty deep in the menus. The list down below shows the steps for getting to the Soul Tree.

  1. Press X to bring up the pause menu
  2. Select Characters
  3. Go to Interlink
  4. Open up the Soul Tree
  5. Press and hold A to add abilities

Like skill trees in other games, the progression is tied to points you earn that are then spent on the Soul Tree abilities. There are new Arts, stat boosts, overheating reducers, and more found on the Soul Tree. The Ouroboros Forms are pretty strong to begin with, but you’ll never regret upgrading them as much as possible.

Each Ouroboros Form in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 can share two abilities with the form of the other character used for Interlinking. For example, Noah’s Ouroboros Form can take advantage of two abilities on Mio’s Soul Tree and vice versa. The same is true for Eunie with Taion and Lanz with Sena.

This sharing feature only works for abilities that are not related to specific Ouroboros Arts. That still leaves plenty of stat boosts and overheating reduction.

That’s all there is to know about how to use the Interlink Soul Tree in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Now get out there and fill up your Soul Tree and see how ridiculously high the damage can get.
