FIFA 17: How to Take and Score Corners

One of the major gameplay changes in FIFA 17 is the way in which set-pieces are taken. The changes allow players to be more precise with the placement of corners, free-kicks, and penalties, as well as offering more variety.

Seeing the new options available to you when taking a corner may be a bit daunting at first, but the new set-piece system is not too complicated.

The right stick will allow you to move the place you would like to cross the ball to – the marker is shown by a yellow circle. When it is in the desired place, you can press square/X quickly for a looped cross, or hold it down for a driven cross. The latter will be quicker and limits the goalkeeper’s time to come out and catch it whilst the former allows for more precision.

When the ball is in the air, you can press the L1/LB to change the player you are in control of. This will allow you to aggressively attack the ball when it arrives in the box, making scoring more likely.

Scoring corners in FIFA 17 relies on cross placement and timing of the player’s run and jump. If you time a header well, it will result in a better connection and a higher chance of scoring. Also, crossing the ball into an area in which your player with the highest heading stat is, as well as the shortest defender, will make scoring more likely.

The new corner system in FIFA 17 may be daunting at first but it is certainly an improvement.
