FFXI Odyssey Guide: Sheol A, B, & C – How to Farm
There’s no right way to tackle Odyssey in FFXI. The most efficient method of getting something out of it is going to depend on your group size, goals, and gear.
Farming Lustreless Items for Gil
If you’re flying solo, new, or have lower-end gear, you can still get something out of Odyssey. The most simple thing to do is to enter Sheol A (the easiest one), summon a group of trusts, and just kill Nostos enemies, avoiding all of the Agon.
You’ll get lustreless item drops that can stack to up to 99, and generally sell somewhere around one million Gil.
In this way, Odyssey can be a decent way to farm up some Gil. Preferably play as Thief, or at least sub Thief, with some Treasure Hunter gear equipped to give yourself the best chance at drops. Or at the very least, swap in some Treasure Hunter gear if you’re not able to play as or sub Thief.
If you’re a bit more advanced with your gear or have a few friends to help out, you can attempt to kill the Agon Halo and enemies along with a few Nostos and pop NMs. Then, get to the end before the time runs out (feel free to skip past groups of enemies) for additional Gil rewards and lustreless item boxes.
A larger, stronger, and more experienced group can handle Sheol B and even Sheol C for more Segments and better rewards at the end.

Trading Lustreless Items for UNM Augments
Instead of selling the Lustreless items, you can actually use them to augment any UNM gear that you have. Different UNM augments require different lustreless items. Sheol A drops Scales, Sheol B drops Hides, and Sheol C drops Wings.
To start the augment process, trade a +1 version of the item you want to augment, and 1 of the corresponding lustreless item used to increase its RP to a Unity NPC in either of the three starter cities. You’ll need to pay 30,000 Unity Accolades for the augment process to begin. You’ll need 1,190 Lustreless items to max out the augment.

Farming Segments for Sheol Gaol Runs
Finally, the other major reason to run Sheol A, B, and/or C is to farm Moogle Segments that you can use to buy Moglophone IIs to pop enemies in Sheol Gaol.
Sheol Gaol is an entirely different beast that we will tackle in a separate guide. However, know for now that to prepare for this, simply farm as many Moogle Segments as you can. They don’t expire, and the most efficient way to get them is to tackle the most challenging enemies you can.
Each floor of each Sheol increases in difficulty and rewards more segments. And, in addition, each individual Sheol is harder than the last.
Ideally, if you’re in a powerful group of six players, you are going to Sheol C and killing as many enemies as you can on the hardest floors you can handle before the time runs out.
