How to Upgrade Weapons in Dying Light 2

Since there are so many weapons in Dying Light 2, many of which are laying about all over the place, the game doesn’t ask you to purchase individual weapon mods to attach. Instead, you purchase and/or find weapon upgrade blueprints, and then you actually craft each mod yourself to install on any weapon you pick up.

There are three different types of upgrade mods for melee weapons, for example: tip, shaft, and grip. If a weapon is able to handle a mod, it will have a mod slot or socket. The best weapons in the game typically have all three and are represented with Legendary gold coloration.

Once you have purchased a mod blueprint (from a Weaponsmith/Craftmaster), you can craft that mod and install it on any weapon that will accept it. If you have the resources, you can craft it over and over and install it on as many as you like.

Types of weapon mods include Spark, Flame, Poison, and Critical damage increases that give your weapon the associated property on top of its base damage and attributes. You should upgrade any weapon you plan on keeping for a while.
