Violence is not always the best option.

The simple answer is that, you cannot manually holster your weapon. That being said, there are a few little in-game hacks you can employ to get Aiden to put his weapon away.

  1. Whenever you have a weapon out and you no longer need to use it, Aiden will holster it automatically after a short period of time.

Just wait a few seconds or so without using the weapon, and Aiden will put it away. There’s no way to holster your weapon manually.Holster your weapons in Dying Light 2, and brandish them in the face of danger.

  2. You can also force him to holster the weapon by engaging in parkour activities or moves.

For instance, if you jump, slide, or vault across a surface, Aiden will also automatically put the weapon away.

  3. Finally, there are a few areas in Dying Light 2 where weapon usage is prohibited, so you won’t be able to take it out anyways.

Areas like faction strongholds or allied locations will prohibit you from equipping any weapons, so this point becomes moot.

If you ever find yourself in danger and in need of your trusty weapon, pressing R2 will draw your weapon out again. Once you are done with combat, just give it some time or start parkouring, and your weapon will be holstered again.
