Know Your Bonecharms

Bonecharms are incredibly useful for both Low and High Chaos runs in Dishonored 2. While it’s not necessary to get the Crafting Bonecharms ability as soon as it’s available in the game, it’s something that you should consider once you’ve acquired your more important abilities, like Vitality and Reflexes.

First off, don’t be afraid of any corrupted Bonecharms you might find along the way. While these typically come with negative traits, they might not necessarily affect your play style too much. For instance, a Bonecharm with the Armored Bones negative trait isn’t that bad at all – it slows down your movement speed, but greatly reduces the amount of damage you take. It really depends on your play style and how you want to handle combat. If you enjoy playing as a tankier character, Armored Bones could be the best corrupted trait for you. If you’re not going to rely on Mana all that much, don’t be afraid to pick up a corrupted Bonecharm with the Witch’s Skin negative trait as well – this one will cause your Mana to drain first before your health whenever you take damage.

These two negative traits in particular will work well for players who are more inclined towards using melee attacks and parries. Of course, if you intend on relying on your Mana skills, there are other Bonecharm traits for you to consider as well.

Prioritize Health and Damage

Going for a High Chaos run in Dishonored 2 basically means cutting down all enemies in sight. This also means that you’ll be getting into a lot of fights. To improve your survivability, I highly recommend increasing your health and damage output as much as possible. The Vitality ability and its upgrades will help greatly with your health regeneration and amount of damage taken. This is one of the first abilities you should definitely pick up.

Blood Thirst is an invaluable ability to have for High Chaos players as well. It essentially allows you to build up an Adrenaline meter as you fight enemies, and once the bar is filled up, you’ll get a free kill on the enemy you attack next. This allows for smoother combat situations, and can let you end fights much quicker than they would normally take.

Learn to Parry

As you progress further in the game, you’ll encounter more and more enemies with ranged attacks. To counter this, it might be useful for you to consider picking up the Reflexes ability. While Corvo and Emily can parry regular attacks, Reflexes will allow you to parry ranged attacks.

Later on, learning to parry can evolve from a defensive tactic to a much more offensive one. The Superior Deflect upgrade will let you actually deflect bullets and bolts, and use them to hit nearby enemies. This will help to clear out mobs much faster, and allows you to refrain from taking damage, while simultaneously attacking foes at the same time. The Snap Reaction upgrade is also useful in that it slows down time whenever you’re spotted by enemies, giving you time to react and counterattack.

Take Care of Alarms

Just because you’re planning on killing everyone in Dishonored 2 doesn’t mean you don’t have to be mindful of alarms in the area. Whenever you enter a new room, make sure to look for alarms on the walls, and rewire them. If a guard spots you and manages to activate a regular alarm, you’ll be swarmed by every enemy sentry in the area. There are smarter ways to go about dealing with guards.

By rewiring the alarm, it essentially becomes a trap for the first guard that touches it, and will disable them. After that, the alarm itself also becomes inactive. Not only does this allow you to take out sentries more easily, it also saves you the headache of being overwhelmed by more foes than you can handle.

Rob Black Market Stores

Dishonored 2

If you really want to build up your High Chaos meter, consider robbing the black market stores whenever you come across them. First off, these stores are useful areas for you as you can upgrade your gear here, and essentially become more powerful. You can also buy special items and materials to help you out on your missions. However, once you’ve gotten everything you need from the store, you can choose to rob it for extra money and resources.

The robbery itself won’t count towards your Chaos buildup. You’ll want to kill the store owners as well to make it count. It’s a bit of a drastic measure, to be sure, so make certain to grab everything you need from the store before doing anything else.
