Death Stranding: How to Improve Delivery Score & What It Is

How to Deliver Your Packages Faster in Death Stranding

Recommended Videos

Playing and getting better at Death Stranding will also contribute to the next factor that goes into your Delivery Score: How much time it took you to deliver your package.

While simple on its head, this factor can be difficult to manage due to Death Stranding’s open world design and, in turn, the sheer number of things that can slow you down.

These include terrain that can trip up or impede your character to enemies littered throughout its areas which can kill you, requiring you to slowly sneak past them or find alternate routes to your objective.

Fortunately, this factor becomes easier to deal with the more you play as well. As you come to grips with the game’s mechanics and design, you should start to get a feel for how to navigate the different terrain, preventing slowdown or falls that leave you wasting precious time gathering your dropped items.

Likewise, as you get a feel for the different patterns of enemies, you’ll find better methods of avoiding their detection and getting past them.

As such, you should pay close attention to these mechanics and work to hone your skills around them if you want to decrease your delivery times.

How to Maintain Your Package Condition

The last factor that goes into your Delivery Score in Death Stranding is the condition of the package you’re delivering, and it’s arguably the hardest to manage.

As you make your way across the game’s world and encounter its many hazards, you’ll frequently find your package thrown into harm’s way due to its container being damaged, enemies attacking it and so forth. Even something as simple as falling down a hill can be catastrophic, sending a fragile delivery tumbling down a hill.

This decreases its overall condition, and the lower its condition upon delivery, the lower the number of points you’ll earn toward your overall Delivery Score.

Fortunately, there are ways to prevent this penalty. One way is to maintain your package’s condition by maintaining your stamina level and observing the terrain and ensuring you don’t trip or fall during a delivery. Doing so will ensure you don’t trip and fall, and that your package stays safely on your back or on its transportation device.

Likewise, if you do drop or damage your package, you can repair its container with Container Repair spray or by entering a Timefall Shelter. Either of these methods will restore your package container’s condition, and prevent further penalties from being applied to your Score after the delivery is through.

Time needed: 1 hour

So, to recap how you can improve your delivery score in Death Stranding:

  1. Play the game. Doing so will allow you to get a better grip on its mechanics, and make delivering any package from point A to point B easier.

  2. Learn the world’s terrain and how it impacts your character. Doing so will prevent you from falling and damaging your package, and will prevent you from being slowed down during deliveries.

  3. Observe enemy patterns. This will make it easier to avoid damage to you and your package, and will make getting past them to expedite your delivery times much more manageable.

  4. Maintain your packages. This will prevent a penalty from being applied to your final Delivery score. You can do this by avoiding falls, evading damage from enemies and repairing your package’s container when it gets damaged.

That should cover everything you’d need to know about how to improve your Delivery Score and what it is. For more on Death Stranding, check out our guide wiki as well as our guides on hot topics like whether there are cheats and how to change the difficulty.
