Best Crackdown 3 Weapons – 5: Prophecy

There’s a lot of fancy explosive and heat-based weaponry in Crackdown 3, but if you just want a solid assault rifle that’s easy to use and is going to be decently effective versus everything, then the prophecy is among the best weapons you can use in Crackdown 3.

It’s more or less a glorified assault rifle. It can hit enemies decently at any range, but is extra effective up close, which is where it can start to rival some of the other flashier guns. It’s particularly great versus unshielded humans, but it’s not shabby against some of the other more specialized enemies either.

Solid similar alternative: Bolt Thrower

The Bolt Thrower is a very similar weapon to the Prophecy, except that it trades a bit of range and consistently across the board with the added benefit of heat-based attacks and the ability to cause burning damage.

Shooting it feels almost exactly the same, so consider swapping out for the Bolt Thrower if you won’t miss the added range and want a little bit more damage instead. It kind of depends on what you have in your other two slots.

Best Crackdown 3 Weapons – 4: Anubis

The Anubis is one of the best weapons in Crackdown 3 for simply just holding down the fire button and causing explosions that can take down multiple enemies at once and has decent single-target damage capabilities versus bosses too.

It fires a lot faster than some of the alternative explosion-based weapons, and has a much higher clip than, say, the Jackhammer.

You need to constantly fire it and let the damage add up because it’s not going to cause as high damage as some of the other explosive weapons, but it’s extremely fun to use and great for quickly clearing out trash enemies.

Solid similar alternative: Grenade Launcher

The Grenade Launcher serves a similar purpose but with a slightly different style. It has less ammo, and fires a lot slower, but it does have considerably bigger explosions and damage.

As long as you’re not fighting something like a drone, which will be extremely hard to hit, or are trying to hit something far away (the Anubis has great range) the Grenade Launcher can also clear spaces out, and hits a lot harder per shot.

Best Crackdown 3 Weapons – 3: Arc Rifle

The Arc Rifle is one of the most reliable and powerful weapons in Crackdown 3. It has arguably the best range in the game, it has really high damage per shot, making it effective versus bosses and grunts, and it can cause shock damage over an area of effect.

If your health is low, or you just don’t feel like getting up close and personal, you can use the Arc Rifle quite effectively to take out groups of enemies without ever really needing to worry about dying.

The only draw back to the Arc Rifle is that you might run out of ammo quickly as it doesn’t have the greatest reserves.

Solid similar alternative: Homing Rocket

The Arc Rifle is a decent boss killer that is quite versatile, but if you literally just want a boss killer or something that packs as much power into one shot as possible, the Homing Rocket is one of the strongest guns in the game for that purpose.

Best Crackdown 3 Weapons- 2: Minigun

The Minigun is unlike any other gun in the game and it’s one of the best weapons in Crackdown 3. You get it pretty late in the story but it’s worth the wait. Needing to reload is one of the best ways to get yourself killed.

You barely ever need to reload with the minigun thanks to its massive ammo capacity. You can fire for a long stretch of time and jump around and dodge while doing it.

This makes the minigun one of the best weapons to use on bosses. It’s very consistent and sustains damage that easily lets you jump around to dodge missiles/enemy fire. It’s not the best versus non-bosses, but it’s certainly capable and is arguably the best weapon for clearing out a mass cluster of drones.

It’s important to keep an eye on how much ammo you have and make sure that you start finding cover to reload when the time finally comes. Then once you’re back up and running, rinse and repeat.

Best Crackdown 3 Weapons – 1: Pulse Beam

The Pulse Beam can just about do anything you need it to do, and it’s arguably the best weapon in Crackdown 3. Most weapons are easy to use in Crackdown 3, but the Pulse Beam is probably the easiest.

All you do is hold RT and watch everything melt in front of you. It fires a powerful heat beam of death that will do extra damage to most enemies in the game and that damage only gets better the closer you get to the target.

It evaporates trash enemies, making it great for staying alive in hectic situations, and it’s one of the best and safest guns to use on bosses. It does a lot of damage from short to medium range. You don’t have to get too dangerously close to a boss, but if you can, the damage multiplication makes it worth the risk.

The only flaw of the Pulse Beam is the range. It is wholly ineffective at super long ranges. Pair it with something like the Arc Rifle to cover the times where you need to keep yourself far away.

Any other time though that you’re in a medium to short range situation, the Pulse Beam is one of the best weapons you can use in Crackdown 3.
