Yoshi’s Crafted World (March 29)
No one does family friendly better than Nintendo, and Yoshi’s Crafted World is one of the key titles to look out for this year.
Taking control of Yoshi, players will explore various levels by jumping to new heights, eating up enemies, and discovering collectibles to pick up along the way. It’s also got two-player support, as a second person can take a Joy-Con to control another Yoshi.
Aside from that, there’s also a Mellow Mode that makes the game slightly easier, which you could consider if you’re playing with younger people, or players who aren’t that familiar with video games.

BoxBoy & BoxGirl (April 26)
BoxBoy was one of the more popular environmental puzzle games back when it originally released for the Switch, and now it’s back with a direct sequel called BoxBoy & BoxGirl.
As the title suggests, this is a two-player co-op game. Both titular characters have the ability to extend their bodies to build bridges or create ladders to get to hard-to-reach places in order to progress.
There are 270 new levels included in this sequel, which means that it’ll likely take you quite a while to burn through all that new content.

Team Sonic Racing (May 21)
Unlike that other popular kart-racing game with the Italian plumber, Team Sonic Racing works a little differently as it has a slight focus on co-operative play as well.
While racing, you can opt to be part of a team and keep track of how your teammates are doing as the race continues. You can share your power-ups with each other as well, and Team Sonic Racing will award you with points for how well your team worked together, instead of just looking at who finished the race the fastest.
This is an easy game to get into, and it’s perfect for families and kids alike.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled (June 21)
If you want something a bit more competitive than Team Sonic Racing, you might consider picking up Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled instead. This is a gorgeous remaster of the original CTR on PS1, featuring iconic characters from the Crash Bandicoot games.
There are various modes to check out in Crash Team Racing, including your classic Time Trial and Versus modes. Players will race each other to get to different power-ups that can give them an advantage over others, and use special weapons to give their opponents a really bad time.
If Team Sonic Racing is a bit too “friendly” for your liking, and you’re looking for a racing game that isn’t Mario Kart, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled should be a good one to look out for.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 (July 12)
The first Dragon Quest Builders was a fine game, and served as a nice beginner’s introduction to Minecraft for those who were always too intimidated by how open that game was. However, it suffered from one crucial drawback: the inability to play with friends.
Square Enix is looking to rectify that issue with Dragon Quest Builders 2, and you’ll now be able to start collecting materials and building towns and houses with up to three other players.
DQ Builders is essentially a more structured version of Minecraft, with a loose story mode to follow and objectives to pursue. It’s fairly lenient as well, and it comes with a few tutorials to help you and your family get started in the game.
