Given that Faster Than Light originally came out way back in 2012, you may want to upgrade the visuals a bit. This mod by sanmonku gives the game a nice coat of polish, adding more dynamic backgrounds and detailed planet designs in the process. The game was already pretty good-looking but this mod just gives things an extra boost in sharpness.
The mod has been updated with new versions over time, adding more and more detail to the planets and backgrounds found in the game. In its current form, it really gives off a modern sci-fi vibe, perfect for adding an extra element of authenticity to the experience.

The Captain’s Edition mod is a collaborative effort by various members of the game’s community that introduces a whole new quest line and a tonne of other tweaks. The mod adds a lot of new content but makes sure to stay in line with FTL’s design aesthetic. There’s a more diverse array of ships, new distress encounters and the added ability for players to surrender at the beginning of each fight.
Captains Edition was built over many years in a modular fashion, so contains a lot of smaller gameplay tweaks which make the game better. Overall, it offers a harsher but richer galaxy to explore, one which is absolutely worth your time.

This mod is a great example of how small adjustments to a game can make it a lot better. Extended Pursuit Indicator adds more levels to the Rebel pursuit indicator on the sector map screen, allowing you to more easily gauge how far the fleet will advance after a certain amount of jumps and if it will overtake a certain beacon.
It allows the player to make precise calculations to near pixel-perfect accuracy and is available in a variety of increments.

There are 72 possible combinations which are four times that of the base game. There are graphical changes also, with the loading screens, hanger, and star map all updated to fit in with the mod.
This mod by DryEagle comes with the description ‘They destroyed your home. They killed your family. You are not a violent captain by nature, but now you seek revenge. Do whatever it takes to stop the rebel fleet!’ which sets the scene for this exciting change to Faster Than Light’s core gameplay.

The Star Trek Hulls mod by Crazybat adds a curated selection of Star Trek ships for the player to play around with. The mod adds ships mostly from TNG/DS9/VOY, along with ways to upgrade and customize each one.
FTL is already an awesome game but with the ability to gun down your enemies in an iconic federation vessel, it just got even better.
The Banana
Best FTL Mods You Can’t Play Without
There are a tonne of great ship skins and packs out there, adding increased detail, style and in some cases shout outs to sci-fi movies to the game. This mod though, well, this one is a little different. The Banana mod by JakeCollins allows you to travel through space inside a ship shaped like everyone’s favorite yellow fruit.
Being a banana though, the ship does not feature any weapons to speak of, instead, requiring players to fight off enemies using drones and mind control. Said to be have been created when ‘Some Slug engineers went to a bar and got drunk on Zoltan Ale.’ the Banana mod is a great addition to for all players to enjoy.
