BattleTech: Does it Have Ultrawide Support?
BattleTech is a turn-based strategy video game developed by Harebrained Schemes and published by Paradox Interactive. It tasks players with leading a of military vehicles called battlemechs. Each team (referred to in-game as a ‘Lance’) is made up of four mechs, which the player customizes and tweaks to suit each mission. It’s based on the board game Classic BattleTech, and is part of a series of games which share the same setting. The game was partly financed via a Kickstarter campaign which allowed it to grow in scope, including a single-player campaign, an expansion to the original story, and a PvP Multiplayer mode.
Unfortunately, these extra features do not extend to Ultrawide support. This may come as a surprise to those who played the game’s beta, which did work on Ultrawide displays, though was not fully optimized. There are currently no further details on whether this feature will be added further down the line, but given that the majority of modern strategy games do include it as standard, there’s a high possibility.
For now, there is one option that works well enough. First, set your display to windowed mode, then set your resolution. After you’ve done that, make the display full-screen again. The UI scaling isn’t perfect as the game is not optimized for wider resolutions, but it will get you by in the meantime. If you have any other fixes to make the game look good on wider displays, be sure to let us know in the comments.
So there you have it, no Ultrawide support for BattleTech at launch, here’s hoping for it at some point in the future. We’re going to be bringing you more tips and tricks for BattleTech this week so stay tuned for our upcoming wiki guide.
