Pistols
The firearms of Assassin’s Creed Unity are one of its greatest treats. The need to use these for your combat is very apparent as enemies gather around you in group fights or will turn their own firearms against you. Being able to quickly dispatch long-distance targets before beating a hasty retreat or going all in for a fight makes the fights that much faster pace. Just as well, having the ability to quickly switch between your main weaponry and a quick shot firearm to dispatch a particularly troublesome foe can help keep you at high health as fights begin to drag on and more enemies enter the fray.
Pistols are useful for quick shots and varied amounts of damage. Some of Unity‘s pistols exchange high damage for quick speed, and vice versa; others emphasize multiple or burst shots. Regardless of their individual statistics, pistols have exceptional range and are deadly to single targets if used correctly. The real downside is that all pistols have no parry ability. Dawning your firearm means putting yourself at high risk, as you will be unable to efficiently counter enemies during their approaches. It is best to use pistols from a position of safety. When a single target is approaching, or when you can guarantee a quick kill, a fast shot from a pistol can ensure this. However, if surrounded by a group, or trapped in a small alley or cluttered market, it may be more wise to opt for a sword that can more easily handle multiple opponents.
