5 Things to Do After Beating Destiny 2: Shadowkeep (Post-Game/Endgame)

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

The campaign of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep isn’t all that long. That was to be expected as Bungie is on the record telling players to not expected a Red War or Forsaken length story. That said, story isn’t what most players play Destiny 2 for anyway. It’s what comes after. So let’s discuss five things to do after beating the Destiny 2: Shadowkeep campaign.

Get Raid Ready… Then Do It

The pinnacle of pinnacle activities in Destiny 2 is always the latest raid. Garden of Salvation is where the most hardcore PvE players will be spending their time during the Season of the Undying.

If raiding is your thing (and even if it’s not), you’ll want to start getting your power level up as high as you can to give you the best chance to succeed.

After beating Shadowkeep, you probably ended up around power level 850-860. Between turning in tokens and completing core activities (Crucible is the fastest, but Strikes and Gambit work too), you can quickly get new gear that will take you up to 900 power.

From there, you’ll need to grind our your weekly powerful engram sources to raise your power level. Definitely do all of those, every week, until you hit 950. After that, only the raid, Nightfall, and Iron Banner will bring your gear higher.

Once guides and videos start trickling out for Garden of Salvation read and consume all of that information so you know the strategies well ahead of time. Join an active clan, preferably one that is friendly and patient when it comes to raiding.

If you’re not yet ready to take on Garden of Salvation, try your hand at other raids at least if you aren’t familiar with raiding so you can get a feel for the level of cooperation you’ll need to clear Shadowkeep’s raid.

Nightmare Hunts & Vex Offensive

If you want try something new to Destiny 2, then try Nightmare Hunts and the Vex Offensive activity; new content that was added in Shadowkeep and Season of the Undying.

As of the time of this writing, only the adept Nightmare Hunts are available and the Vex Offensive isn’t out yet, but we do know that they will be a source of powerful engrams (always nice) as well as new weapons and armor (even nicer).

Bungie has had a pretty good track record over the last year of adding fun mid to hardcore PvE activities besides the raid. The Menagerie and the Black Armory Forges in particular were very worthwhile and enjoyable, so definitely keep an eye on these two activities as the Season of the Undying plays out.

New Exotic Quests

Both Destiny 2: Shadowkeep and Season of the Undying owners will have access to new exotic quests over the course of the current season.

Deathbringer is out already and becomes available after beating Shadowkeep. It’s an incredibly powerful Rocket Launcher that has great potential both in PvE and PvP content.

Although not technically a new weapon, Jotuun now is obtainable via an exotic quest From Ada-1 at the Tower Annex if you don’t have that one yet. This quest is new as of Shadowkeep but you don’t need to beat the campaign for this one.

Divinity’s exotic quest will be available after the Garden of Salvation raid releases (and is likely tied to it in some way); and over the next few months quests for Leviathan’s Breath, a Power Bow, and Xenophage, a new powerful slow firing machine gun, will be released.

They may end becoming meta for the endgame, so definitely hop to all of that after beating Shadowkeep.

Pinnacle & Ritual Weapons

Technically Pinnacle Weapons as a concept are dead. Long live Ritual Weapons! That said, Ritual Weapons are obtained in a very similar way.

Ritual Weapons reward players for playing a bunch of a specific game mode using a specific weapon with the reward being a powerful new legendary weapon.

So for example to get Randy’s Throwing Knife, a Scout Rifle obtained via the Crucible Ritual Weapon quest, you need to get a certain amount of Scout Rifle kills, earn Glory, and defeat a certain amount of enemies and/or gain medals.

While the Ritual Weapons aren’t as OP as the old Pinnacle Weapons were, their unique curated perks are still usually more powerful than the average weapon, especially for the mode they were designed for.

Oh and if you are still missing some excellent old Pinnacle Weapons like Recluse, go and get them.

New Seals & Triumphs

Finally, Shadowkeep and Season of the Undying adds a whopping three new seal titles to chase to show off to your friends.

The Undying title is granted from completing Vex Offensive content, Enlightened covers the Garden of Salvation, while Harbinger seems geared towards the Moon and Nightmares, although most of that seal is secret at the moment.

Although it’s all superficial, the triumphs related to these seals often are a fun way to challenge yourself and when you’re all done with it, you get something to show off to your friends with a sweet purple title by your name.

Also, you’ll usually unlock some cool lore tabs along the way, that if you’re a fan of the story, are usually the place to find out what’s going on behind the scenes in Destiny 2, and get the jump on what’s coming down the line in the story.
