It follows the story of Chiyo Sakura, a cheerful high school girl who has fallen in love with Umetarou Nozaki, a shoujo mangaka. Unfortunately, he is completely oblivious to her love for him and she ends up becoming one of his manga assistants following a series of misunderstandings.
The story takes you through both her relationship with the mangaka and the rest of her social life as she befriends other quirky schoolmates. You should definitely give this one a go if you like comedy or romance.
Teasing Master Takagi-san

This slice of life anime is another cute yet funny one as it follows a middle school boy and girl teasing each other. The two, Nishikata and Takagi, sit next to each other in class. Takagi always has embarrassing pranks and jokes to play on Nishikata, while Nishikata tries to be ready to respond. He often fails to get his revenge as she quickly identifies his weaknesses and plays on them. Takagi rarely ever loses challenges, but even when she does it doesn’t leave Nishikata satisified or feeling as though he has really won.
This anime is sure to leave you with a smile, so be sure to check it out if it sounds like something you would enjoy.
Nichijou

Nichijou is a cute comedic slice of life anime focusing on the daily lives of a trio of childhood friends. This trio consists of Mio Naganohara, Yuuko Aioi, and Mai Minakami. Their stories soon end up intertwining with the young genius Hakase Shinonome, her robot caretaker Nano, and their talking cat Sakamoto. The lives of the six and the many other people around them take everyone through insane ups and downs. We’re talking being bitten by a cow and watching the principal suplex a deer.
If you want to watch something adorable and something silly, this show has both in store for you.
WataMote
Best Slice of Life Anime
No Matter How I Look at It, It’s You Guys’ Fault I’m Not Popular!, better known to fans as WataMote, is a hilarious slice of life anime. The plot follows Tomoko Kuroki, a girl who feels confident starting her first year of high school after having experienced high school life via simulation 50 times and dating over 100 virtual boys.
However, she is much less prepared for real high school than she originally anticipated. In reality, she is introverted and awkward at best. She does not realize her own strange demeanor, though. With the help of her best friend, Yuu Naruse, and her brother Tomoki, Tomoko does her best to get through her new life in high school.
If your high school experience was anything like mine, this anime will be just as funny for you.
Tamako Market
Best Slice of Life Anime
Tamako Market is another comedic slice of life anime. It focuses on Tamako Kitashirakawa, a clumsy teenage girl who belongs to a family of mochi bakers. They own a quaint shop called Tama-ya within the Usagiyama Shopping District within an eccentric, close-knit community of business owners. Tamako stumbles upon a bird that claims to be royalty from a distant land one day, stating that he is looking for a bride to marry his country’s prince.
The comedy follows the bird, Dera Mochimazzi, as he goes home with Tamako and develops a mochi addiction. This results in him becoming obese and unable to fly home. Dera ends up becoming the community’s beloved mascot. Meanwhile, Tamako’s friend has secret feelings for her despite the rivalry between their families.
If you like following a crazy story with really silly elements and good humor, this is the perfect anime for you.
Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions
Best Slice of Life Anime
This slice of life anime presents itself as both a drama and a comedy. “Chuunibyou” is a word that describes the stage in one’s life where they feel themselves to be special or different from the rest of humanity, most often in occuring within the middle school years. Yuuta Togashi is ashamed of his chuunibyou as he posed as the “Dark Flame Master” during his middle school years, causing him to move far away to a new high school where nobody would recognize him.
Unfortunately, his longing to live a normal life comes to a halt when new classmate Rikka Takanashi enters the picture. She is a self-declared vessel of the “Wicked Eye.” As she enters Yuuta’s now-normal life, his dream of being ordinary falls apart.
Definitely give this anime a go if you think it sounds funny. It definitely made us giggle more than once with the memroies of our ridiculous middle school delusions.
Toradora!
Best Slice of Life Anime
How could we make a list like this without including Toradora!, a funny slice of life anime following the adventures of two very different high school students. Ryuuji Takasu is gentle and kind, but has an intimidating face and large stature. On the other hand, Taiga Aisaka is small and doll-like but behaves nothing like she appears. She is feisty and comes equipped with a wooden katana.
After an embarrassing mistake, the two cross paths and get to know one another. They find out that they both have a crush on the other’s best friend, prompting them to embark on a quest to help each other with their respective love interests.
This is one of our favorites and definitely a good place to start with comedy or slice of life anime.
