There’s a lot to do in Animal Crossing: New Horizons that can keep players coming back day after day but one of the most important things to keep track of are the bugs and fish that come and go every month in the game.
With that being said, we’ve compiled a list of every fish and bug that’s leaving Animal Crossing: New Horizons at the end of May. You’re going to want to make sure that these are caught before June begins, or else you might have to wait quite some time before you have another chance.
Let’s begin with the Oarfish, shall we?
Oarfish
This gigantic fish is very rare to find in Animal Crossing: New Horizons so if you have yet to catch it since the game launched, we recommend taking the next few days to really try and get it for yourself. Once May comes to an end, the Oarfish can’t be caught until December.
You can find Oarfish in the open sea at any time of the day and it’ll have a large shadow. Once you finally catch it, you can sell it for a whopping 9000 Bells to Timmy and Tommy or just donate it to Blathers over at the Museum –we’re sure he’ll appreciate the gesture.
Loach
The Loach in Animal Crossing: New Horizons has a very limited frame that’s available to catch on your island, with the fish only being out from March to May and that’s it.
You can find the Loach swimming around the rivers on your island and luckily it can be found during any time of the day –look for the tiny shadows.
The Loach can be sold for just 400 measly Bells so make sure to donate it or maybe just hand it over to one of your neighbors. They might like it and then they’ll give you a shirt or a chair or something.
Golden Trout
To get your hands on the Golden Trout in Animal Crossing, you need to be fishing during the hours of 4 PM and 9 AM over in the clifftop rivers on your island. Once May comes to an end, you won’t spot the Golden Trout until September so it’s crucial that you check it off your Critterpedia while you still can.
The shadow size will be medium and you can sell it for 15,000 Bells to Nook’s Cranny or you could even wait for CJ to show up on your island and sell it for an even larger profit.
Mole Cricket
And to round out this list, we have the not-so-adorable bug that is the Mole Cricket. This critter will not be available to catch during the warm summer months or during the fall season but you will be able to catch it this month during any time of the day.
If you’ve already donated a Mole Cricket to Blathers’ Museum, you can either sell it to Nook’s Cranny for 500 Bells or you can place it in your home for all visitors to see, if you want to be that creepy bug dude.
Make sure to look underground for these crickets as they’re caught in a different compared to other bugs. More info can be found in our helpful Mole Cricket guide.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now available for the Nintendo Switch as an exclusive title. If you need more help catching all of the bugs and fish, just be sure to look into our expansive Guide Wiki.
