It’s important to note that we are basing this off a game’s performance at launch and not how it’s running right now. Many of these titles have had almost all of their problems patched out, however that’s not an excuse for their terrible port to PC.

Released back in late August, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided received rather positive reviews and feedback from critics and fans playing it on consoles. However, those who purchased it on PC via Steam were met with framerate and control issues such as the X and Y speeds being different. There have also been reports of input lag, stuttering, and a variety of weird bugs. Multiple Steam users reported the game either crashing or Deus Ex having poor optimization when it comes to the controls.

Combine this with a menu and inventory system that was clearly designed for consoles over PC and you have a rather underwhelming port. While most of these issues have been ironed out, it didn’t leave PC players with the best impressions upon its release.

Quantum Break

Microsoft

One of Microsoft’s newest IPs had a rather successful launch on the Xbox One, yet the title had some noticeable performance problems on computers. First noted by Eurogamer, Quantum Break was unable to actually reach 60 fps on a high-end computer and was stuttering even when tested across multiple computers and graphics cards. Another major issue came in the form of the actual visual quality, which was far more optimized for a television than a monitor. This resulted in players having to suffer from a blurry images up close, while console users who are farther away enjoyed a crisper and cleaner appearance.

There were also minor issues such as Quantum Break lacking an actual quit button or the game suffering from a variety of crashes. Normally this wouldn’t have been as big of a deal if this wasn’t Microsoft’s flagship IP that was exclusive for both Xbox One and Windows 10. Thankfully, Microsoft has either addressed or fixed most of the known problems that plagued this title’s release.

No Man’s Sky

It’s no secret that No Man’s Sky was a massive letdown, however upon the game’s launch PC players reported a number of different issues. Many fans took to Steam and voiced their complaints, with a large number of them expressing concern over the game stuttering and suffering from huge drops in fps. One  straw poll conducted showcased that thousands of users were suffering from the title crashing either during gameplay or right after the title screen.

Other issues reported include the game having input lag and audio problems such as a low hum that sits in the background. Hello Games’ Sean Murray took to Twitter that night and attempted to help players fix their problems along with troubleshooting the plethora of crashes. While this has been mostly fixed, the damage had already been done to No Man’s Sky’s appearance.

 Forza Horizon 3

While Forza Horizon 3 didn’t have any game breaking bugs, it was a rather noticeable problem with the title’s performance that PC players remarked upon. Many users experienced a massive amount of stuttering that made the game at times unplayable along with photo mode appearing as incredibly blurry. Some players reported having problems with running the game at a simple 40fps let alone managing to get it to 60fps.

Forza Horizon 3 also suffered from crashes and was in dire need of optimization for the wheel controller that could be used instead of a controller. Thankfully, many of these issues were addressed in a patch which removed a lot of the known bugs, glitches, or crashing. Yet, this didn’t fix many of the actual framerate stuttering issues, as the developers actually turned to Reddit in order for them to help figure out the source of the problem.

Dishonored 2

The latest offender in poor PC ports is Arkane Studios’ Dishonored 2 which had a fair amount of problems, with the majority of them centered around its performance. Numerous players reported that Dishonored 2 is incredibly sluggish and constantly stuttering. Along with this were the framerate issues and players who were unable to get Dishonored 2’s PC port to run at a stable 60fps in 1080p. Other reported issues include the mouse sensitivity and input lag when a keyboard and mouse were used over a controller.

Some people are also reporting that the game experienced crashes and issues with the actual Quick Save feature. While Arkane has addressed a number of these issues in the few patches released so far, it was an unsatisfactory port for an otherwise fantastic game. However, many users are encouraging customers to not buy this port until the issues are resolved.
