Concrete Genie isn’t the longest game out there, so once you’ve beaten its story, you’ll probably be hungry for more to do and see. That’s why we’re here with five things to do after beating Concrete Genie.
Uncover Luna’s Secret
Out of the many areas you can explore and learn about through Concrete Genie’s story, one in particular gets a scant amount of screen time and back story: The Lighthouse, a fixture of Denska’s landcape and the game’s tutorial area.
While it may come off as a small, forgettable area at first, it holds a secret in its depths protected by the Genie Luna. To uncover it though, you’ll need to venture off the beaten path, taking a break from the main story or returning after the story’s completion.
From there, you’ll be guided by Luna through the Lighthouse from its highest point to its darkest depths, discovering secrets and bonuses as you do.
It’s far from a grand side quest on par with the main story, but it does offer a few fun puzzles and moments you wouldn’t normally get by passing over it. Likewise, the final prize will be a good bonus for anyone who enjoys the game’s painting mechanics, offering a means to truly let their imagination run wild.
Find All of Concrete Genie’s Collectibles
Like the platformers it takes its inspirations from, Concrete Genie is overflowing with collectibles to uncover and add to your stockpile.
These range from ones which are tied to the main game, like the torn-out pages from Ash’s notebook, to more well-hidden and optional fare like the billboards which awaken memories from Ash’s past and white paintings which hint at moments you can share with your Genies.
While they might be hard to track down to completion, each offers their own bonuses and reasons to find them.
As mentioned above, tracking down every billboard reveals a memory from Ash’s past, revealing more about himself and Denska. Collecting every page from his notebook opens up your options for what kind of artistic creations you can bring to life, and deciphering every white painting gives you more cheery moments between Ash and his Genies you can watch.
And, of course, tracking down all of them will reward you with some of the game’s best, and most challenging to unlock, trophies.
Collect Every One of Concrete Genie’s Trophies
Speaking of which: There’s no better challenge to complete after beating Concrete Genie than to collect all of the game’s Trophies.
In addition to the usual slew of Trophies tied to story moments, random tasks and collectibles, there are also a fair few that have odd, yet interesting completion requirements.
A few ask you to carry out specific activities with your Genies tied to the environment, from scoring a basket with a basketball to playing hide and seek. Others require you to return to the game and continue making living art after completing the story, or to experiment with the game’s different VR gameplay modes.
As such, striving to obtain each trophy can lead you to see and experience parts of the game which you otherwise might have missed. Better yet, many of these moments will further develop your understanding of Ash, his relationship with the Genies and the city of Denska itself.
Try Out Photo Mode
Being that Concrete Genie is all about making masterful works of art, you wouldn’t be blamed for wanting to save and share these creations through a photo mode.
Fortunately, the game does in fact include a photo mode, and its well worth digging into.
Offering the usual slew of options for honing and perfecting your images, the mode allows you to capture most any moment from the completion of a mural to a light-hearted exchange between any of your given Genies. You can then alter its saturation, angle, photo grain and other effects, further turning your snapshot into a masterpiece.
It’s a perfect match for the game’s content, and seeing as how you can activate it at anytime, it’s more than worth experimenting with in all of the game’s areas and situations.
Test Out Concrete Genie’s VR Modes
It’s no secret at this point that Concrete Genie features VR gameplay modes, but what may surprise you is that the game’s VR modes offer an experience entirely separate from the main game.
Whereas the main game and story see Ash tasked with bringing life and light back to the city of Denska, the VR Modes see you instead focusing on fleshing out and touching up scenic landscapes in first person.
Not only that, but you’ll be able to lend your own spin to the landscape with the Free Paint mode, sprucing up or altering a given scene as you see fit with whatever elements you have at your disposal.
The end result is a mode that’ll give you plenty of new experiences you can glean from the game, all while allowing you to stay immersed in its colorful and creative world for just a bit longer.
