5 Questions We Have After Ubisoft’s E3 2019 Presentation

How Big Is Watch Dogs Legion Exactly?

ubisoft, e3 2019

Probably the strongest showing at Ubisoft’s E3 2019 press conference, Watch Dogs Legion definitely impressed us with its ambitious sense of scale and all the features that have seemingly been packed into it.

Most notably, Legion will allow you to recruit any and every NPC you encounter in the game, and allow you to play as them. This could potentially mean tens of different ways to tackle each individual mission in the game, especially with all the different skill sets you’ll have at your disposal.

So the question is, just how big is Watch Dogs Legion going to be? The potential in variety seems absolutely insane, and almost reminiscent of that incredible E3 showing of the original Watch Dogs all those years ago.

How Is the Division Movie Coming Along?

Hey, do you recall that Ubisoft announced that they were working on a Division movie like, years ago? And it had a solid leading cast with Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain, who killed it in Zero Dark Thirty?

Well, the movie’s not dead and it’s definitely still a thing. Ubisoft announced that they were now partnering with Netflix to work on the movie, which is great and all, but it’s been three years since its original announcement and it’d be nice to hear more about the film.

How is production going? Is the story going to be a straight adaptation of the first game, or an entirely new plot?

How Is Uplay+ Going to Work Across Platforms?ubisoft

Another major announcement at Ubisoft’s E3 2019 presentation was the unveiling of Uplay+, the company’s brand new monthly subscription service.

We know that it costs $14.99 per month, but we still have a few burning questions about this one. For starters, does the subscription work across all platforms? Microsoft took a while to bring Game Pass to PC, but will the Uplay+ subscription cover all the major platforms at launch?

How soon will Ubisoft’s new games hit the Uplay+ catalog? We’re assuming they’ll be added at launch day, just like what Microsoft’s been doing, but it’s always possible that new releases might be held back for a short period of time before joining the library.

Lastly, if Uplay+ is going to be on Google Stadia as well, does that mean we have to pay the $14.99 on top of the existing Stadia subscription? That adds up pretty quickly.

What’s Rainbow Six Quarantine?

We also saw a quick CGI trailer of the new R6 game, titled Rainbow Six Quarantine, and… we basically know nothing about it.

I mean, we know it’s going to be an online PvE shooter obviously, but what about the structure of the game itself? Will it have a traditional mission-based structure? Will it have survival elements?

This is the next big entry in the Rainbow Six franchise, and it would’ve been nice to get more details.

How Stacked Is 2020 Going to Be?

ubisoft

So, from the looks of today’s presentation, it doesn’t look like Ubisoft has anything major coming up for the rest of 2019. Watch Dogs Legion looked like it might’ve been Ubi’s big fall release, but that’s coming in March 2020 instead.

Aside from the updates and expansions that we already know about for games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and The Division 2, there’s not much else to look forward to this year, aside from Just Dance. Which leaves the question, just how stacked is Ubi’s 2020 going to be?

We already know that Watch Dogs is out in March, but is Ubisoft planning on bringing the Assassin’s Creed series back next year too? What about Far Cry? And what about Skull & Bones, which still doesn’t have a solid release date?
