I remember hearing the shrieks and gasps of everyone sitting in the audience during Sony’s press conference back in E3 2015, when the first trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Remake began.

The promise of exploring Midgar and seeing characters like Sephiroth, Aerith, and Barrett, fully remade from the ground up for modern audiences excited fans, but what they didn’t know was that Square Enix would take a very long time to actually develop the game.

Now, I know that Square Enix fans are used to hearing about a game and then never seeing it again for years to come, such as Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV.

E3 2019 is Square Enix’s chance to finally pull back the curtain on the long-awaited remake of this PlayStation classic. We doubt that we’ll actually get a release date for this game, but getting our eyes on some gameplay would be quite the surprise and a treat.

Coincidentally, there’s going to be a Final Fantasy VII-themed concert going on during the same time as E3, so maybe that’s a tell-tale sign that we’ll be seeing more of the game in June.

Babylon’s Fall

We got our first look at PlatinumGames’ newest action game, Babylon’s Fall, during Square Enix’s press conference just last year. We didn’t get any gameplay footage, but there was a trailer that gave us a glimpse of what to expect.

One of the most important moments in that trailer was the end, which gives a look at four different characters all standing next to each other, looking up at a colossal structure.

We’re not quite sure what kind of game this is going to end up being, but apparently, according to PlatinumGames’ studio head (Atsushi Inaba), the game will be a “new challenge” for the developers.

Square Enix’s press conference will be here before you know it and we really hope to see what Babylon’s Fall is all about. If it’s anything like Platinum’s other titles, it’s sure to have very stylish and exciting combat.

The Avengers Project

It has been over two years since we first heard the news that Square Enix and Marvel would be teaming up for a multi-year, multi-game partnership.

The first game announced from this partnership is currently titled as The Avengers Project and is being developed by the Tomb Raider reboot team over at Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal.

We still don’t know what this game actually is, including the genre. All of the information that we currently have is that it will be “packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise.”

Marvel and The Avengers specifically are at an all-time high right now, considering that Endgame will be releasing in theaters this coming weekend, putting an end to the third phase of the Thanos arc.

Releasing another new trailer or even some gameplay would be such a good idea for Square Enix right now, as there is no better time to talk about the Avengers.

If the trailer is any indication, we expect to play as The Hulk, Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man; as these characters were all teased in the initial reveal.

Deck Nine’s New Game

In 2017, Deck Nine games teamed up with Square Enix to develop a prequel to Dontnod’s well-known adventure series, Life is Strange. Before the Storm would be a prequel set before the events of the first game and gave players control of Chloe Price, giving LiS fans more insight into her relationship with Rachel Amber.

The title was only three episodes long compared to the five that the main seasons of Life is Strange provided players, but it still turned out to to be quite the critical success; we here at Twinfinite praised the game back in 2017 for its enthralling story and excellent soundtrack.

Just last year, Deck Nine announced that they would be, again, collaborating with Square Enix on a different project.

We have no idea what it could be, but we have faith that Deck Nine can give us yet another engaging story with relatable characters and a bomb soundtrack. We hope this game is one of the many announced during Square Enix’s 2019 E3 press conference –only a few weeks left.
