Sonic Adventure – 20th Anniversary

The Sonic series has been quite inconsistent throughout its lifetime. From the abomination that is Sonic Forces to the sublime Sonic Mania, fans of the blue speedster never really know what to expect from the next game.

Originally released for the Dreamcast in 1998, meaning it is celebrating its 20th anniversary, Adventure was the iconic character’s first game to feature 3D visuals. Sonic’s team sets out to collect the seven Chaos Emeralds and stop Doctor Robotnik from unleashing Chaos.

It was lauded not only as one of the greatest Sonic games, but a standout among all video games on SEGA’s console. Its 3D visuals were astounding and the Sonic gameplay translated excellently.

Nowadays, it is almost unimaginable to see a game release just two days before Christmas. December as an entire month is usually pretty quiet, let alone so close to the holidays. Maybe it’s for anyone that does all their Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve.
