10 Best Far Cry 5 Arcade Map Editor Levels

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Far Cry 5 brings with it a new setting, a whole new collection of dangerous animals to contend with, and a enigmatic cult leader to overthrow. It also adds a more robust map editor mode called Far Cry Arcade, which allows players to build their own levels and maps using assets from other Ubisoft games. Assets from Watch Dogs, Far Cry Primal, Far Cry 4, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed: Unity can be used to create new levels, with a surprising amount of depth possible. There have already been loads of wacky and downright awful user-created levels, but there are plenty of diamonds in the rough. Here’s the 10 most awesome Far Cry 5 map editor levels.

Baker Family House (Resident Evil 7)

Many of the coolest Far Cry 5 Arcade maps are directly inspired by other games. In this map by creator wim_buytaert (check it out in action via this video by TheRedTieGuy), the Baker family house from Resident Evil 7 is recreated, to seriously cool effect. The map allows players to relive the spooky opening from the game, starting off at the site of a car crash and leading right through until the player is stood outside of the house.

It’s a pretty spot-on recreation of the nightmare house, and goes to show some of the detail which is possible with the Far Cry 5 Arcade Mode map editor. The atmosphere is very close to the real thing, leaving us definitely wanting more. Let’s hope more of Resident Evil 7 can be recreated in the future, as it would be really cool to play the game as a more FPS-focused affair.

DE_DUST 2 (Counter Strike)

This map by IZOOLIE brings the quintessential Counter Strike map Dust 2 into the world of Far Cry. It’s a seriously loving recreation, allowing players to battle it out in one of the most familiar settings in all shooters. It’s weird to see Far Cry’s shooting style implemented in such an iconic map, but somehow it just works.

You can set up Team Deathmatches, Sniper PvP games, and more using the different map editor options, allowing you to duke it out with your friends just like back in the glory days of Counter Strike. It’s definitely cool to see such a classic map being brought into another game, leading us to wonder what other ones we’d like to see.

Cult Island (Battle Royale)

It was only a matter of time before we saw someone create a battle royale mode for Far Cry 5, and with this offering from BILLSAND THRILLS, it seems to be a perfect fit. You can check out the level in this YouTube clip courtesy of GameFX, which shows off just how fun this mode can be. It gives a glimpse at what a more robust, first-person PUBG might look like, ending up being inherently faster than the original game.

PUBG’s original island is recreated here, and with little touches like looting and frying pans everywhere, it feels enough like the real thing. This is only the beginning of course, as it’s very likely we’ll see more and more elaborate battle royale levels created in Far Cry Arcade. For now though, this one will do just fine.

Nuketown (Call of Duty)

The iconic Call of Duty map Nuketown has been recreated incredibly well in this map made by user Swole. Just looking at screenshots is enough to give you flashbacks, proving just how detailed the new map editor can be.

The mode started off as one where you wipe the area of NPCs but is quickly being tweaked to include more traditional deathmatch fare. The map is so popular for good reason, with Nuketown clearly still holding a very special place in the hearts of many gamers.

The Legend of Zeldo

It’s all well and good painstakingly recreating iconic FPS maps in great detail, but what is surely more interesting is seeing the weird and wacky side of what Far Cry 5 Arcade can do. This map by Cute_n_evil is titled The Legend of Zeldo, a title which sets the scene perfectly for the wonky elven adventure that it holds in store.

Armed with a slingshot, players wake up in a hut filled with pots. They then venture out to meet the Great Deku Tree, before coming across an arena infested with wolves and with plenty of hooks to grapple onto. It’s janky as all hell, as shown in this video by SlenderDan, but there’s definitely enough Zelda references to keep any fan entertained.

County Jail Breakout

It’s been awesome to see what players have started to do with the map editor since launch, but to get a real idea of the true potential of the tool, we can look at the levels created by Ubisoft. This one in particular, titled County Jail Breakout, shows how the Arcade Mode can be used to create new experiences within different genres.

Breaking out of jail with a buddy in tow as you launch molotov cocktails at guards is appropriately riotous, showing that these short, creative, bespoke experiences can stand on their own two feet. Check out a clip of the level in action here, courtesy of Unsorted Gaming.

Paris City Map

This map by creator GCVOS shows just how deep you can get with the new map editor. It’s an ongoing project which uses assets from Assassin’s Creed Unity to recreate sections of Paris. You can follow its progress via the creator’s YouTube channel.

It’s seriously interesting stuff and really makes you wonder just how large these creations are going to get. Once the map itself is built, it comes down to the objectives and modes set up within it to allow it to reach full potential. While this is just a recreation project at the moment, it’s exciting to think of the potential for a completely realised version of the city of Paris in a FPS.

Zombie City

Shooting zombies is always fun, but so much more so in a Far Cry game. And while we will have to wait a little while until Far Cry 5’s zombie DLC is added to the game, this map by cstevenson is definitely enough to tide us over. The creator makes use of those drugged up cultist dudes who scream and run at you with pipes to set the zombie scene.

It all takes place on an abandoned intersection with corpses, crashed cars, and a seriously spooky atmosphere helping to take it into pure horror territory. There will probably never be a fully-fledged horror Far Cry game, which is why maps like these are so cool to see. Since it was created, other uses have already started adding to it, so who knows what a zombie Far Cry level will look like in a month’s time. Check out Zombie City in this video by Forge Labs.

Yeti City Attack

Now this is the kind of chaos we were hoping for when Far Cry 5’s Arcade Mode was announced. This map by unsorted guy fills a city with a tonne of yetis and arms players with rocket launching helicopters. As you’d expect, it’s a completely bonkers, wonderfully glitchy mess that just happens to also be some of the most fun you can have in Far Cry 5.

The yetis will climb buildings, throw corpses and try to bring you down at all costs. It really is a completely bizarre thing to see, but somehow manages to capture Far Cry at its weirdest. The game has always been about dangerous wildlife, something which Yeti City Attack dials up to 11. You can watch the level in action here.

Miami Hotline

I never knew I wanted a first person shooter set in the Hotline Miami universe, but playing through this map by Learyfamily has seriously opened my eyes to the possibilities. The sleazy neon vibe is recreated perfectly here, as well as the creepy enemies and over the top violence.

Flashing lights and tight corridors make for a seriously tense experience here, where one wrong move signals certain death. The worlds of Far Cry and Hotline Miami are surprisingly, a perfect match, mixing tight first person shooting with stylish, pulpy subject matter.
