Call of Duty’s DMZ has experienced a couple of ‘resets’ since it launched with Warzone 2 (now just Warzone). Players have mixed feelings about seeing their progress undone and, with Season 5 right around the corner, they want to know if another reset is in store.

Is DMZ Being Reset in Season 5?

No, DMZ won’t be having a reset with Season 5. We’re 99% sure that’s the case, for a number of reasons.

The main one is that, in Activision’s official season overview from July 27, there was no mention of a reset in the DMZ changes. Instead, players were informed of new items, missions and a mysterious Konni Group causing chaos. Check out our DMZ Season 5 guide for all that.

The second is that it doesn’t match the pattern established so far in Warzone. DMZ’s had two resets to this point: Season 2 and Season 4. As a result, we don’t expect another reset until Season 6, which would fit with the two-season pattern we’ve seen so far. Obviously, this is unconfirmed.

The third reason is that the ongoing Season 4 brought huge amounts of new content to DMZ, mainly in the form of the new Vondel Exclusion Zone and new Phalanx Faction. Players just haven’t had all that much time to explore the map, level up their Reputation and flesh out their Active Duty Operators.

What is a Reset?

It’s exactly as it sounds: players’ progress and Faction rankings are reset. There’s usually new content in the form of missions and objectives, as well as a reversion to the default Contraband and Wallet sizes.

There’s been some criticism of the changes in the past, but developers need to implement changes to keep modes like DMZ fresh. They’d quickly lose players’ interest if they allowed them to keep their millions in cash and high rank in every Faction.

In short, it’s kind of necessary for a mode like DMZ, even if it can feel frustrating to have your progress undone. It does mean players can redo all the missions, rank up again and enjoy any new content that’s been added.

That’s everything on Season 5 DMZ and whether there’ll be a reset. Stick with us for all the latest as it’s confirmed by the devs.
