AC Unity Combat

Recommended Videos

Assassin’s Creed Unity offers a huge open world environment to explore, and of course, with many people to assassinate, a good assassin needs a healthy arsenal of goods to get his stab on. Featured here is a general overview of the array of armaments at your disposal to ensure the most productive group fights and take-downs.

AC Unity One-handed

One-Handed and Long Weapons

One-handed weapons offer players high mobility at the cost of range and damage. Parry speed varies from weapon to weapon, but these will generally offer the best choices in both countering attacks and initiating combat. If you find yourself getting caught in combat frequently, these will offer the best ability to contest multiple opponents simultaneously, giving you ease of movement between targets with your fast swing speeds.

Long weapons, are two-handed and sacrifice speed and parry ability for range and damage. Another wise choice for group combat, despite the difficulty in counters, the length these weapons offer can keep multiple opponents at a safe distance. So long as you don’t get surrounded in a team-fight, you can expect to deal significant damage, whittling down single-targets until all of your enemies have been defeated.AC Unity heavy weapon

Heavy Weaponry

Heavy weapons differ from long weapons by taking an even greater sacrifice in speed and a huge reduction in range for the sake of immense damage. Despite their weight, these weapons are more mobile than spears and halberds that fall into the ranged category, allowing players increased parry speed. Thus, heavy weapons offer a good median between the lumbering long weapons and the mobility of one-handed weapons. While swinging time on heavy weapons is abysmal, any hit struck upon an enemy will devestate them, and the ability to more quickly parry can allow a playstyle reminiscent of Dark Souls. Players who prefer heavy weaponry can expect patience fights, singling out targets, countering them with parries, and then giving big swing to dispatch them all at once.AC unity pistol

Pistols

The firearms of Assassin’s Creed Unity are one of its greatest treats. The need to use these for your combat is very apparent as enemies gather around you in group fights or will turn their own firearms against you. Being able to quickly dispatch long-distance targets before beating a hasty retreat or going all in for a fight makes the fights that much faster pace. Just as well, having the ability to quickly switch between your main weaponry and a quick shot firearm to dispatch a particularly troublesome foe can help keep you at high health as fights begin to drag on and more enemies enter the fray.

Pistols are useful for quick shots and varied amounts of damage. Some of Unity‘s pistols exchange high damage for quick speed, and vice versa; others emphasize multiple or burst shots. Regardless of their individual statistics, pistols have exceptional range and are deadly to single targets if used correctly. The real downside is that all pistols have no parry ability. Dawning your firearm means putting yourself at high risk, as you will be unable to efficiently counter enemies during their approaches. It is best to use pistols from a position of safety. When a single target is approaching, or when you can guarantee a quick kill, a fast shot from a pistol can ensure this. However, if surrounded by a group, or trapped in a small alley or cluttered market, it may be more wise to opt for a sword that can more easily handle multiple opponents.AC unity rifle

Rifles

Rifles are useful for precise and deadly shots. They take a huge sacrifice of speed for the sake of much higher damage output. Their range is equally deadly to pistols, but the added kick of your musket shot will doom anyone who falls on the other side of your sights. While pistols suffer from their lack of utility, rifles are frequently less of a disadvantage as they generally have great parrying and melee abilities.

It’s easy to get carried away with the slow speed of a rifle, and if an enemy approaches from behind or faster than anticipated, a quick counter using the length of your rifle can quickly disable opponents, providing valuable time to either reload, secure a kill and switch to a more useful weapon for melee combat, or find a better position for a second shot or to continue the fight. Rifles are best used from long distances, especially rooftops, and although they have utility during a team fight if you absolutely need to use it as a melee weapon, this is ill advised.AC unity armor

Armor

You are given a wide selection of armor options in Assassin’s Creed Unity, including: head, chest, forearms, waist, and legs. All armor in the game is a balance of four characteristics: melee ability, health, stealth, and ranged. This essentially makes all armor as further utility for whichever playstyle you happen to enjoy, allowing for customization of any manner you please.

Using some Handmade Napoleonic Breeches paired with an Improved Bourgeois Belt can give you a solid increase in health along with ranged making frequent use of your rifles more viable; the increase in range will secure more shots, while the double increase to health ensures you can take a hit if you miss a parry. Or perhaps you want to avoid combat altogether. Dawn some Legendary Sans-Culottes Trousers along with a matching coat to maximize your stealth abilities, allowing quick and quiet take-downs, leaving your enemies bewildered at the threat that lurks in the shadows.
