Developed by Pixpil and published by Chucklefish, Eastward is a beautiful new 2D pixel art RPG that follows the story of John and Sam, a man and a young girl who live deep underground. Before long, they’re thrust into an adventure that takes them to the surface world and beyond. It’s a much bigger game than you might expect and it can be easy to get lost in this one, so here’s how to check your map and objectives in Eastward.

As mentioned above, Eastward is a pretty big game and it can be easy to get lost every now and then. NPCs will often tell you to head somewhere without actually letting you know where your destination is located, which can be a little frustrating. However, Eastward does feature a very handy map function that will help to guide you when you’re lost.

Checking Map and Objectives in Eastward

To bring up the map, press the Menu button or + button if you’re on Switch. Then, use the shoulder buttons to go to the Map tab and you’ll see a rather detailed overview of the area you’re currently in. Use the analog stick to move around, and keep a lookout for a cartoonish man holding up a flag.

The icon of the man with the flag serves as an indicator of where you’re supposed to go next, so all you have to do is head in that direction to continue the story.

You can also access the quest tab from your menu to keep track of all the story beats that have occurred so far. This will also give you a hint as to what you should do next, just in case there’s no objective marker to be found on the map at that point in time.

That being said, when in doubt, always check your map. 99% of the time, it should give you a good idea of where you need to go next and how to progress.

That’s all you need to know about how to check your map and objectives in Eastward. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
