Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Probably among the most anticipated remastered collection in years, Mass Effect Legendary Edition will do something pretty simple, but it should still satisfy hardcore fans of the series anyway.
As far as we know now, it’s just going to deliver the original three games with enhanced features, including all of the DLC, in one clean package that will be playable on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Purists need not worry about anything else getting messed with in the story or gameplay, at least that appears to be the case as of the time of this writing and based on what BioWare has shared about Mass Effect Legendary Edition so far.
It will be interesting to see just exactly they handle Mass Effect 1. While I’m still a fan of its old-school gameplay, and find it still plays just fine once you get used to it, I recognize I’m probably in the minority there.
Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time Remake
Ever since Assassin’s Creed took off, Ubisoft has pretty much abandoned the Prince of Persia series. Prince of Persia shared some similarities in gameplay with the early AC games, but it has more of a focus on puzzle solving.
The Sands of Time is without a doubt the peak of the Prince of Persia series and it seems like Ubisoft is wisely using it as a starting point to test consumer interest in the series.
The Sands of Time Remake will feature new cinematic cutscenes, new character models, modernized controls, enhanced voices, animations, sounds and of course, far improved graphics more befitting of modern consoles.
If you’re a fan of the original game then this remake – as long as it’s done right – should be a no-brainer pick up. Hopefully it’s successful enough to encourage Ubisoft to consider making a brand new game.
SaGa Frontier Remastered
There are a lot of PS1 JRPG classics I’d like to see remastered and updated for modern times. My personal favorites haven’t yet gotten that treatment, but SaGa Frontier is likely high on the list of many 90s JRPG fans. I missed it the first time around but I probably won’t skip this remaster.
Aside from being another opportunity to check out a classic PS1-era JRPG, SaGa Frontier Remastered is also taking things up a notch. It’s going to include a brand new playable character, Fuse, and will also include “new events and features” along with updated graphics as well.
A translation by Gematsu of the Japanese official site also reveals that menus have been revamped and quality of life features such as 2x speed are also being added as well.
As of right now it appears to have all the makings of a solid remaster, with features to help players used to modern RPGs feel more at home with this older game.
Is there anything worth checking out that we missed? Let us know in the comments below.
