After nearly a year since its last episode premiered, the anime adaptation of Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma is set to receive its next season.
In the latest issue of Shonen Jump, it was revealed the fourth season of Food Wars was confirmed for release. The season is titled “The Plate of God” and will premiere this October as part of the fall 2019 anime season.
The new cour would adapt the remainder of the Central arc, picking up after the most recent episodes wherein protagonist Yukihira Soma and his allies are competing against the Council of Ten for control of the Tōtsuki Culinary Academy.
However, it’s unclear exactly how many episodes the season will run for or what its exact premiere date is at this time.
The announcement comes amid the conclusion of the series’ source material manga. The manga’s final chapter with Shonen Jump was published in the latest issue, with an epilogue series planned for publication in Jump Giga starting on June 27.
The announcement also came with a visual and recap promo video, both of which can be viewed down below.
First premiering in April of 2015, the Food Wars anime follows the adventures of Yukihira Soma, a young chef looking to become the most skilled individual in the culinary world.
To this end, he enrolls at the Tōtsuki Culinary Academy, the most prestigious cooking school in the world where the best of the best gather and clash in cooking competitions.
Through these competitions, Soma hones his skills, gains new allies and friends, and gets closer to learning the secret to what is required to become the world’s foremost authority in bringing the art of cooking to greater heights.
If you’re new to the series or just need a refresher on what’s happened so far, you can check out all of the currently available episodes of the series on Crunchyroll.
Likewise, if you’d like to read the now complete manga series, you can do so via Shonen Jump’s official site.
