4 Resident Evil 2 DLC Ideas That’d Put Ghost Survivors to Shame

Ada’s Escape

can you play as ada in resident evil 2, ada wong resident evil 2 remake, is ada playable, resident evil 2

One of the biggest scenes in Resident Evil 2 is Ada’s “death” scene, whether it’s by the hands of Mr. X or Annette Birkin. There are a few variations here and there, but Leon’s route always ends with the Umbrella spy meeting her demise at the Umbrella laboratory. Or so we thought.

Ada’s no stranger to all sorts of death-defying situations, but she manages to get herself out of it. In fact, she even escaped Raccoon City after her supposed death at the laboratory. Her prowess as a spy and survivor are clearly shown in the Umbrella Chronicles where she leaves the city with relative ease.

While her escape wasn’t part of the original game, now’s the perfect opportunity to add it in the Resident Evil 2 remake as DLC. Capcom could mold Ada’s Escape as the ultimate survival mode – possibly even harder than Tofu Survivor. Players would have to be crafty and make the most out of Ada’s different spy tools to avoid combat as much as possible.

Ada’s also known for being quick, though she has one of the lowest health pools in the series. A few bites could ultimately lead to her death, especially considering the injuries she’d sustained in the lab. Ada’s escape has always been one of the more untouched topics in the Resident Evil 2 series, so now’s the best time to expand on it.

Better Ghost Survivor Stories

Resident Evil 2 Ghost Survivors

Capcom has just rolled out Ghost Survivors as part of their recent Resident Evil 2 update, giving players three new stories to tackle. This non-canonical mode follows the story of three Raccoon City victims who had met their dates in the original story. This time around, we’re given another look at what would have happened if they had survived.

While the premise is promising, the execution just fell flat. Ghost Survivors felt nothing more but a reskin of The 4th/Tofu Survivor in the sense that all you needed to do was get from point A to point B with limited supplies along the way.

Moreover, Capcom hadn’t exactly expanded on their stories, as there was a lack of cutscenes and interactions between characters. The retelling was done through film slides which felt quite lazy.

If Capcom plans on expanding this feature in the future, it definitely wouldn’t hurt to put a bit more effort into fleshing out the story. While it doesn’t have to be another full-on narrative, adding in some cutscenes and voice acting would definitely help flesh out the story.

More Costumes

Capccom’s been laying on costume DLCs really thick, so why not add more? We’ve got tons of amazing new outfits for both Leon and Claire, from Noir to the “98 Classic” look. There are tons of other costume ideas Capcom could add in Resident Evil 2 remake, including their clothes from RE4, Code Veronica, RE6, and Revelations 2.

Costume swaps could be another thing worth looking into, with Leon and Claire dressing up as Chris and Jill respectively. These outfits could also change how Ada and Sherry look, giving them new threads each playthrough. There’s also the opportunity for giving Claire and Leon new looks as well.

There’s plenty of flexibility when it comes to creating clothes as DLC. While costumes don’t really add anything significant to Resident Evil 2, they’re a great way to motivate fans to keep playing.

Multiplayer Modes

Resident Evil 2

The Resident Evil 2 remake boasts a solid single-player experience, which is what the series is mainly known for. However, we’ve gotten tons of other modes in past games, particularly Raid Mode and Mercenaries, which were fun with friends.

These timed challenges were all about clearing maps or killing enemies as fast as possible, urging players to play creatively and work around the ticking clock. Adding in the Mercenaries and Raid Mode would be a great way to integrate some online play and let fans play together.

Resident Evil 7 managed to integrate something similar with Jack’s 55th Birthday, but it was another single-player mode. Here’s hoping Resident Evil 2 gets more modes that let you share the fun, either locally or online.
