How to Get Trap Kills Easily in Fortnite Battle Royale

While the Scar, pump shotgun, or rocket launcher may be the more powerful aspects of your arsenal in Fortnite Battle Royale, getting trap kills is more often than not way more satisfying. They’re not the easiest thing to pull off, though, for a multitude of reasons. Namely, unless you’re right in the center of the circle, wherever you place it will likely end up in the storm within a few minutes. If you’re needing a trap kill or two to get you a challenge, though, here are a few handy ways to net you trap kills in Fortnite Battle Royale.

First off is the most effective method we’ve used, but it does require a bit of luck. You’ll want to land in one of the named locations on Fortnite Battle Royale’s map. As you’re coming in to land, you want to be immediately keeping your eyes peeled for the green glow of a trap. As soon as you see one, start heading towards it. This is where the element of luck does come in when it comes to trap kills, though. There’s no surefire way to get a trap in Fortnite Battle Royale (though the vending machines certainly make them a little easier if you’ve got the materials to pay for them), so you may have to play a few rounds until you finally get one.

If you’re lucky enough to get a trap right at the start of the game, you either want to now look for someone looting a house or nearby building, or try and lure someone over to you. Place a trap right above the doorway into the house or into a particular room. Now, use the dancing emote (or any other that makes noise) to try and lure someone to you. Obviously, make sure the trap is between you and where the enemy will be coming in. With a bit of luck, they’ll sprint in and immediately get rekt by the trap.

You can also do something similar by trying to find someone and running away into a building that has a trap inside. If you can make it look like you don’t have a weapon, or they manage to land some shots on you, they’ll think you’re easy pickings and will come to hunt you down. As long as you place your traps strategically on ceilings and difficult-to-spot surfaces, you’ll have trap kills in no time.

The other alternative is to down someone in squads and build around them. Pay close attention to where the trap’s spikes will cover before placing it by looking at the blue hologram, otherwise, a downed enemy might not get hit by it at all. Once they’re boxed in and you’ve placed the trap, give it a few seconds and you should be able to add one to the tally.

That’s all you need to know to get trap kills easily in Fortnite Battle Royale. For more on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
