What the Best Party Is in Ni No Kuni 2

Recommended Videos

Ni No Kuni 2’s new real-time combat system allows players to switch between characters on the go. There are six playable characters in total, but you’re only able to use a maximum of three in your party. While the others will be available for you to swap into your party at any time, you’re probably wondering which characters comprise the best party in the game.

Before we answer that question, it’s worth remembering that each character has different strengths. Some have exceptional magic abilities, others are better at inflicting physical damage, while there are one or two characters that excel at both. Most importantly, you’ll want to have a party set up that includes a character who’s able to provide buffs and healing abilities – you don’t want to constantly be relying on your items for those effects.

First and foremost, Evan is certainly the best character in the game. Not only is his cut and thrust sword attack super powerful in combination with higher level swords, he’s also able to cast offensive magic spells. And best of all, he has two spells that can buff your party, protecting them against physical and magical damage, as well as a revival spell that brings knocked out characters back to life. Only Tani has a similar spell, so you’ll want Evan around for his ability to support and damage.

Either Roland or Batu are our second choice. Both of these characters have strong physical attacks that can damage multiple enemies with a single swing. Roland’s Circular Sword attack and Batu’s spinning hammer ability really help clear out large groups of enemies. Each character also has a strong ranged attack that’s useful against flying enemies or those that don’t stay still very often.

Leander is also an excellent character to include in your party. He’s a master of magic, and his Darkness spells are particularly effective. He can also buff himself for more physical damage (as can Roland, for that matter) which is super useful for laying into enemies that have lots of HP. If you’re using Leander, be sure to develop his spells at the Spell Works to get the most out of him.

We’d encourage you to mix and match your party throughout your playthrough. There are still plenty of perks to using Tani and Bracken too, and it’s not like they can’t be leveled-up or given quality equipment to make them equally as potent.

That’s all the information you should need to form the best party for your Ni No Kuni 2 playthrough. For more useful tips on the game, check out our wiki page.
