How to Use the Enigma Machine in Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus

If you’ve been playing through Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, chances are you’ve taken down some Commanders and grabbed some Enigma Codes. The game mentions that you’ll need an Enigma Machine to crack the codes and that they could lead you to some useful information. Here’s what you need to know to use the Enigma Machine in Wolfenstein 2.

First things first, you’ll need to actually unlock the enigma machine in Wolfenstein 2. You can do this by completing the mission A New Suit. Once you’ve done this, you should find that the Enigma Machine station lowers down and is available to access from the Helm of the ship, to the left of Grace’s room and behind the districts table. Interact with the chair and you’ll begin the little mini-game.

Here, what you’ll see is two large sets of ordered dots, which are the enigma codes themselves. Essentially, the top level is what you’re aiming to make from the sets below. By scrolling through the top half of the bottom set with the left stick and the bottom half with the right stick, you’re attempting to create the enigma code in the top area. There are six enigmas you need to create, which are numbered on screen, going from left to right on the top section. You need to create the first one in the middle part of the bottom section, which should be lit by as surrounding red border, by scrolling through the patterns. Once you’ve made the first one, press X/A and you’ll move on to the next one. Do this for all six codes and you’ll decipher the location of an Uberkommadant.

Once you’ve done that, you can head to the districts table behind you, where you’ll see a map of the US, and you will be able to head to a district to take out the high-ranking enemy.
