Step 1: Grind Out a Coin Nest Egg by Doing the Easy Stuff

Unfortunately, unless you’re going to just spend real life money, there’s no coin inheritance or secret treasure to discover. You’ll need to do a bit of grinding before things will come easier to you. The best way to get started on getting MUT coins fast and easy is to first put the work in and do some grinding on the solo challenges. A lot of these challenges are very simple and only take few minutes to complete and you’ll be rewarded with coins and other useful MUT items.

First, check out your objectives and you’ll see challenges you can knock out for free chunks of coins. Right off the bat, there will be a bunch tied to the solo challenges and improving your team, stuff you should be doing anyway, so definitely take some time to grind out as much as you can until they start getting too difficult and time intensive to make them not worth the effort anymore.

New to Madden NFL 18 is the Longshot Story Mode. Not only is it pretty enjoyable, but it’s not that long and rewards you with a bunch of decent free cards to get your team going. Also once you get your MUT level a little higher, it will unlock the Chronicles of a Longshot solo challenges that you can also complete for more easy to get coins.

Ideally, you want to get around 20,000 coins or close to it before moving onto step 2.

Step 2: Work the Auction House

This is the most crucial factory to being successful and getting coins fast and easy in Madden NFL 18 MUT. You need to know how to take advantage of the game’s auction house. Whenever you want a break from playing, you should be in the auction house, wheeling and dealing.

What you want to do is really  study the marketplace and take notes on what players are going for. You want to pick up on trends and try to notice when someone is going much lower or higher than they usually do. If you have a auctionable player that is going much higher than normal, consider parting ways with it, at least until you have an opportunity to get another one in the future. Same goes with the flip side. If you see a player that is going much lower than usual, buy it and then flip it for a higher price a little later.

What you’re going to notice is that popular players usually go for much higher than lesser known ones, even if they are more or less the same rating. Take advantage of this. Stack your team initially lower-key players and flip the popular ones for more coins. Later on when you’re flush with coins, you can worry about getting your favorites if you really want. Badges are also a good commodity to flip. If you’re not using them yourself, sell them like you would the cards. They usually sell fast, and for a high price too.

Finally, one other important aspect of working the auction house is being patient. Don’t set below market prices. Be patient, set things a little higher and don’t reach for stuff that is overpriced.

Step 3: Never Ever Buy Packs

This one really is quite simple. Don’t waste your precious hard-earned coins on packs unless you really have nothing else to burn them on. It might seem tempting, especially if you got on Reddit and see someone bragging about an awesome pull they got. However, if you’re patient and follow step 2 religiously, you’ll eventually get everything you want. You have a whole year until Madden NFL 19, the cards aren’t going anywhere.

Yes, if you do pull an awesome card, you’re going to save a lot of time. But just like gambling in real life, the sting of wasted pack after wasted pack is worse than the occasional victories you’ll get. Stick to the auction house unless you have coins burning a hole in your virtual pocket or if EA Tiburon decides to go crazy with a pack offer that you can’t pass up.

Step 4: Compete

Finally, it’s time to actually play the game. New to Madden NFL 18 this year are Weekend Leagues. This year, if you participate and win one of the weekly Knockout tournaments, you’ll qualify for an over the weekend league where you can play up to 25 games, and depending on how well you do, you’ll be rewarded with potentially a ton of coins. You can view the full breakdown here, but, jeez, look at those top prizes of 125,000-250,000 coins… yeah. Not that will it be easy, but even last place is 3,000, so it’s worth a shot.

And, of course, there’s just regular ol’ playing online. Make sure when you’re playing online you’re being efficient if you’re winning. Don’t rub it in with passing plays if you’re up ahead and you know you got it. Run the ball, run out the clock, so you can move onto the next one and collect your coins. Otherwise, if you have tickets enter tournaments for chances at getting more lucrative prizes if you’re confident in your abilities.

That does it for our guide on how to get coins fast and easy in Madden 18 Ultimate Team (MUT). Do you have a strategy that works too or maybe even better than ours? Please share it in the comments! Good luck out there, MUT head.
