How to Sneak – The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild

Recommended Videos

Unlike traditional titles in this series, stealth is now a viable option for players in Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild who want to thin the ranks of enemy encampments before drawing their swords via sneaking. This is not only new to the series, but offers users a chance to approach each encounter in a tactical manner. To engage in stealth mode, click down the left stick, which will cause Link to crouch and move slower. By doing this, enemies will not hear your footsteps and it will allow you to creep up behind a foe while their back is turned.

If you manage to sneak behind an enemy, Link can perform a “Sneakstrike,” a move that will instantly kill many lower level enemies in Breath of the Wild. This is enabled by hitting the Y button when you are directly behind an enemy. Try to use this to either eliminate foes who have strayed too far from their camp or initiate combat by instantly dispatching one of the adversaries. However, in many monster camps, there is usually an alternate way to either heavily damage or kill targets. This can be anything from a large rock or explosive barrels to even a beehive that you shoot down via an arrow.

Always sneak up on your foes before riding in, as it’s important to understand the terrain and if there are any environmental hazards to abuse. Creatures in Breath of the Wild are exceptionally vicious and dangerous this time around so make sure to always sneak in and thin their ranks before engaging, it could just save your life.
