.hack//Infection (2002 – PS2)

Set in the .hack//Sign universe, .hack//Infection is the first video game in the series, with the premise of a role playing game within a role playing game. This multi-layered premise serves as a counter balance to the anime and manga by letting players delve deeper into the world. Upon release, Infection emulated the concepts of an online game, despite being completely offline, and presented this with a familiar MMORPG formula.
